Forums - Gaming Discussion - Global Survey Of Gamers Finds PS4 as most wanted next-gen console!

PS3 was the most anticipated because of the huge success of the PS2. Strange that the WiiU is third considering how well the Wii has sold. Whatever, it's silly to jump to conclusions yet anyway. We've barely seen the WiiU in action and we have yet to see anything about the Nextbox or PS4.

The Wii was mostly purchased by nongamers. It was a draw because it was a novelty that kept gaming simple and easy for the masses. This is why the Kinect sold like wildfire when it launched. Microsoft went after the same group Nintendo claimed with the Wii hype. The Wii U will not gather the same crowd because even though you can do many things with the tech I am sure it wont be as casual focused as last time and the tech will probably be more expensive. The question everyone is asking is if Nintendo can win over the core who purchased PS3's and 360's? We'll see at E3 what they have planned.

LOL I'm sure in mid-2005 the PS3 was also most wanted... funny how that turned out.

Indeed. IGN Nintendo makes up something of 3% of all site traffic, so they're not getting certain vote segments.

Edit, damn, quoted wrong person.

Wow, but not really surprising considering the fact that there hasn't been anything Nintendo-related that the typical core gamer / IGN reader has cared about for pretty much this entire generation.

Still, very ironic considering the website originally started off as N64.com and later renamed to IGN64.

woops, looks like i got that wrong. According to Alexa, Wii.ign.com + ds.ign.com make up roughly 8% (couldn't find a 3ds.ign.com), which is down 5% than combined (PS3/Vita) Sony stats.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Truth be told, I'm not looking forward to ANY of the next generation. my PS3 will last me another 3-5 years, my Xbox is fickle but I can't see myself getting bored or tired of what it has to offer for another 2-4 years, and my Wii...well, the less said about that the better. It's got a few games on it I still need to play (Skyward Sword and Okami is it), but until they come out with something awesome again, I'm giving Nintendo consoles a break. I'm sure we'll get a zelda, metroid, mario, kirby, and donkey kong game, as well as smash brothers and mariokart, but until we get at least three of those, I can wait (since there's practically nothing on Nintendo consoles worthwhile that isn't one of Nintendo's first party franchises.)

my 3DS has Kingdom Hearts, Smash Brothers, and Paper Mario being released in the next year, as well as Kid Icarus and Resident Evil Revelations for me to go pick up, not to mention the Vita and its awesome lineup.

I'm good. I don't need a new console any time soon, thanks.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

PS3 is the best console around, those who don't own one are missing out big time. It's only natural its sucessor is the most wanted console next gen!

Here's just a short list of some of IGN's upcoming surveys:

- What is the greatest country according to Americans?
- How many homophobes are there among the gay community?
- How many certified taxi drivers are estimated to have a driver's license?
- What is the one true religion according to our religious population?
- What is the most common crime among murderers?

So yeah, where is the salt?

Anyone remember the 63% of PS3 owners are going to buy a PSVITA survey that was released by Sony. This is just the same its not a true cross section of people and is therefore pretty much worthless.

Well, they never specified when they would buy it.

Survey conducted by IGN, thus it's a heavily biased sample that has virtually no resemblance to the actual market.

awwwwww defensive much?? IGN is an entertainment website not a Sony/Microsoft website. It is also the most popular entertainment website on the planet so......

surveys mean very little when all is said and done
