The AP bar kills this game for me, this might take way a lot of the diversity that th smb series had respect kills, combacks, and will probably make the game less competitive than brawl.

Displeasure? No, might be a good game in its own merits. Dissapointed? yes, i was expecting something fresh and original for a fighting game that got sony's ips as roster, instead i got a weird clone of smb with a bad name.

There will be other modes as well.

Until now there's only time limit and stocks.the devas are making this mechanic its main difference form smb, so i doubt they will put anything to replace it. The fact that you apparently cant die form falling of the stage is also too forgiving.

I'm sure there are penalties for that such as you lose all your AP. You also lose points I'm guessing. The one with the most KOs wins so maybe K/D ratio comes in to play here.

Like the Move to the Wiimote, when Sony tries to do something Nintendo allready did it just ends in failure. Thats my prediction anyway.

Sales and reviews will be verrry interesting.

The Move is far more accurate than the Wii mote will ever be. The PS Eye coupled with that just begs for innovative games to be made. It has the potential (notice I said potential) of doing things the Kinect and Wii together can do with precision. The games are the only thing in question there. Sony makes games for their community. I wish Microsoft was as dedicated...oh wait...were supposed to be getting a new anime app on Xbox Live. :)

So for the weird sub-human group of people who own Playstations but never own Nintendo consoles, this allows them a similar fighting game with characters they know and love or hate.

Hey that's me. :(

hope so, but taking away stock or health if it existed would make it more important and would give players another strategy and a way to turn around tables.

@VGKing All good, but one thing. You are aware that Solid Snake and Sonic are in SSBB, right? With other charcters in their series also appearing as cameo?

Yes I know but isn't that it?
I would think Playstation All-Stars would have way more 3rd party characters since 3rd party characters are much more important to Playstation than it is for Nintendo.

That is true and correct me if I'm wrong. Sony has more IP's than Microsoft and Nintendo combine I believe.

At this point I do believe this to be true.

Gamesradar take on the two games similarities.

I just thought about it guys. We shouldn't be displeased actually.

I know fans of Coca Cola weren't too happy when Pepsi came out and made their version. But at least it was good too. That's what I see here. Of course, you'll get these wacky versions of Coca Cola that just have no reason of existence like Kiri Cola or something like that, but Pepsi has a good flavor and its own good marketing.

Even though these two game have such strong similarities (more than expected within a genre), it does have some subtle yet important differences, and you know what, it gives more exposure to the genre and will boost sales of both flavors and it's good for the market, it's good for the gamer.

But let's call a spade a spade, it is a rip-off, but it will have its own place, and an important one at that I hope (I changed my mind on this).

@happydolphin Good to know. Will you close the thread?

I don't mind a franchise copying another franchise. Some of my favorite games are just copies or "spiritual successors" of other games. I'm not even a big Smash Bros. fan. Here's my big gripe with this particular game:

With Super Smash Bros., we have a game where all of Nintendo's big franchise characters face in a huge epic battle. It may not have been the first of its genre but it did offer a lot of unique twists. There may have been other games that did a "four player battle royal" concept but side by side, none of them would be mistaken for Smash Bros. Smash Bros. is basically "The Nintendo experience" in a single video game form.

With Playstation All Stars Battle Royal, it seems that the game that says "This is the Sony experience" is really saying "The Sony experience is just the Nintendo experience with Sony characters."

Shouldn't the game that could potentially be considered the ultimate culmination of everything Sony be a bit more.....unique?
