Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Pokemon hurting the 3DS?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. People are whining about Nintendo "abandoning" the Wii despite games like The Last Story, Mario Party 9 and Fatal Frame 2 all slated for release, but then they don't completely abandon the DS despite way more people owning one and suddenly it's bizarre and stupid.

What's with the backlash and the meltdowns anyway? It's an expansion/follow up on Black & White, nothing about it was going to take full advantage of the 3DS's exclusive features. Are you really trying to tell me that the equivalent of Pokemon Grey is "hurting" the 3DS and somehow negates the inevitable Gen 6 (and possibly 7) that's going to launch on that platform? Get real.

It is the gamecube problem all over again. People yell at Nintendo to try new things, they try new things for each one of their franchises and they get backlash. The only new thing they tried that didn't recieve backlash was most likely Metroid Prime.

Nintendo problem has always been damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Nintendo made the right choice keeping it available for DS players.. anyone with the right business mind would agree.. besides Nintendo has a comfortable lead on the vita... if by some freak of nature it starts to sell well.. then Nintendo will bring in the bigger guns.. Pokemon 3Dz! no need at all for it be 3DS exclusive right now..

Wrong thread.

Thanks IGN for digging up my anger at Nintendo for doing this, again. I agree with IGN's statements to my greatest extent but I'm done freaking out about it. What's the point? Nintendo won't care, Nintendo would never read this comment. I'll still buy it.

And that's why they don't care. =P

I think this is great it shows that Nintendo is giving its developers enough control over their games to do good. Game freak obviously was not ready to begin development on 3DS. Game Freak will have a game ready when they are ready.

I don't think the new Pokemon games will sell as well as if they were on 3DS. However I don't think the games will suck in fact they may even breath one last breath of life into the DS.

I am sure Game Freak has already begun working on a 3DS title. We just need to wait I do not think Pokemon is hurting 3DS it certainly isn't helping to its potential but with Mario present and the other strong titles Nintendo has listed Nintendo isn't going to be hurt by not having the new Pokemon games on 3DS.
