Forums - Gaming Discussion - Vita OS on par with iOS and Android OS?

The more I use the Vita OS the more I like it. If it wasnt missing all the apps that ANdroid and iOS have, I would prefer it over both. Without digging deep into VIta OS, its comes off as an OS that is as competant as iOS and Android OS. I really think Sony should be showing it off in commercials.

Vita OS has:

- a lock screen, a optional password lock screen, notifications, solid/responsive keyboard, Vita OS is very snappy/resposive (every bit as responsive as iOS), very fast boot time (way faster than Android on my Droid X2), access to a store, background downloads, multiple home screens, customizable home screens, a functional web browser (iOS and Android are better), and the top bar showing open apps, time, battery charge, and wireless connections. I am sure I am missing a few things here.

- A cool differentiator for Vita OS are the live areas...I really like the live areas for each app. Also, I like how the apps are floating bubbles, rather than static icons.

Vita OS does not have:

- Apps. The Vita OS doesnt even have an email app, at this time.

What do you other VIta owners think...Is Vita OS a solid OS (the equal of Android OS or iOS) except for the lack of the 100,000s of apps?

This is such a preposterous thread and claim...that I have decided to roll with it and pour more fuel on the fire

Everyone knows that Windows Phone 7 is the smoothest and most user friendly OS if you remove the lack of apps and features out of the equation. Take that Vita OS!

Well there is an App section of the PSN store. Lets hope Sony opens it up to more developers. They just launched the facebook app.

Actually, I meant the thread title to be a question. I didnt notice that I forgot to add the question mark.

I see...fair enough, this is open for debate then.

I played with the Vita for under 5 minutes at Gamestop which is not nearly enough time to form a valid opinion. Everything seemed fluid and fast and nothing hurt my eyes in terms of UI design. So I'd say it's pretty good and features and apps aside, the OS probably compares favorably to Itouch and Android PMP devices that are coming out....but features and apps are the whole point for these devices.

Meh, I would have put Linux on it. That'll teach people to buy Vita.

Eh I'll get used to it, personally loved the XMB xD

Could just be a getting used to it phase, I feel like that for most things too, like when when windows vista first came out.

Speaking about OS while i was logging into my PSN profile i got a screen saying there's billing info associated with that account and I have to put my credit card expiry date and cvc or it won't allow me to log in.

Wow look like Sony learned their lesson after hacking incident :D
