Forums - Sony Discussion - Confirmed: Ueda has left Sony

Finally some official words by Sony:

In a statement received by Gamasutra on Monday, Sony confirmed that while the creator is no longer working as an employee, he is finishing the upcoming The Last Guardian on a contract basis, and is "committed to completing" the project.

Thank god. Should free up a lot of resources for people who actually MAKE GAMES.

Ueda, just like consumers, have failed Sony.

ONNOOOOOOO

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Kind of how I feel, but lets be optimistic here!

Well that's sad, guess we'll see if Ueda was truly essential to that team or not, and what he can do starting off on his own again. Best case scenario for Sony would be if Ueda makes a company and then works for them second party like David Jaffe did, but who knows. I just hope this doesn't end up killing Team Ico as well as screwing up Ueda's development wherever he ends up so in the end noone is left that makes games like they used to.

...

won't change much. One person on such large teams won't change much in the future
