Can Disney beat Universal's record 2015 domestic gross - $2.445 billion?

It will fall short of tha... 4 13.33%

Finding Dory, Doctor Stra... 20 66.67%

It's going to be very cl... 6 20.00%

Total:30

At least it's doing better than TDK overseas. $1b is still a lock regardless of the legs this movie has in the USA.

I am not fazed by this shooting. Iam not talking about not being upset about it, but I am not afraid to go to the movies now. It was obviously done by someone who was crazy or who smoked synhetic drugs. Doubt it would happen again.

I wouldn't say that but I bet it is pretty rare.

Disapponting results across the board. TDKR can't go below 15m per day this week if it wants to match TDK's domestic gross.. Hopefully this shooting won't have a long term box office effect.

It was a disappointing opening weekend, adjusted its a weaker opening than things like Spider-man 3 and Dead Mans Chest, without the shooting it could have made perhaps £20-30 million more, which is sorta disappoining for a movie that had a real crack at the opening weekend record.

We'll see how it's legs are from now, everyone just had to exaggerate what happened as usual.

For some reason I think that next weekend will have a really small drop for this movie. Anyone think it can push out over a 100 million next weekend based off the shootings and whatever else going on? Some may have also been worried that it was not going to be as good as the second one so they were just going to take their time seeing it. With great word of mouth that should change this weekend.

$100M?! Holy cow, that would be unbelievably good for the movie. I think that $80M is the max. it's gonna get.

There is no doubt the shootings had an effect on this movie. In fact its evident by the drops that it had an effect on people going to the movie theaters as a whole to see any movie. I have read reports this movie would have been at least $15-$20 million more, or possibly higher. There is really no way to know, because of that despicable act. It did at least break the record for IMAX at $23.8 million world wide.

Its too bad this movie had to have this dark cloud over it, but I don't however think it will take much away from its overall grossing number. It probably will slightly, but not by much.

Im pretty confident that throughout this week TDKR will hold pretty well, and have a small drop this coming weekend. Many people that canceled their plans to see the movie out of fear or respect of the shootings are planning to see it this coming weekend. A small portion will still not see it or wait a few weeks when fears die down. Im going to expect around a 43% to 49% drop in its second weekend. Most big opening weekend movies drop at least 50% in their second weekend, but I do think a decent portion who canceled this past weekend will go out to see it this weekend.

I agree that it was really large. Even at 50 percent drop it would still push out 80 million. That is what movies normally drop to in the second weekend. Will this drop that much? I bet it will be closer to 100 million than 80 million! :P

TA dropped 50.3%

TDK dropped  52.5%

Batman Begins dropped 43.4%

If TDKR gets a similar BB hold it should gross closer to 100M than 80M.

And the biggest OW for a 2D movie (unadj.)

That is true. Still good numbers. I think it will have a nice hold in theaters, and sell very well when it comes out on physical media. I would think pretty much everyone who owns TDK would also want to own TDKR.

It did $19.5M on Monday. That's a bigger 1st Monday than The Avenger's, but still ..school wasn't out at that time.
