Forums - Sales Discussion - What are we overtracking? What are we undertracking?

I'll second that last bit. I use the game database very frequently and it takes much too many clicks to access now.

The PS2 DEFINITELY needs to get its numbers above that 150 million mark already. The figure has been confirmed by Sony like a dozen times already.

As for the Wii and DS, they are probably overtracked now, but once Nintendo reveals its earnings for whatever fiscal quarter, they will be back to being even more accurate again.

Besides, VGC is give or take 5%-10% off sometimes. Better than nexgenwars :P Over there, Wii is still at 53 million!

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I can understand the whole +/-10% thing...

But in the case of Wii and DS, it's so painfully obvious that it's overtracked, the +/-10% IMO doesn't even come into it.

If the VGC numbers are accurate, DS has actually sold more than it's shipped and there wasn't enough stock around the Americas to support the Wii for a Week. Barely enough WW to support it for 10 days. With no reports of shortages at all (Quite the opposite, actually), I think it's just... Obvious.

I think we were all waiting for adjusments since the shipment numbers were announced. Didn't happen yet.

I wholeheartedly agree with the OP despite being a Nintendo supporter!

Yeah, I want the most accurate #'s I can get even if that means lowering Wii #'s...

With the info given in the OP, it is obvious that Wii is over-tracked. DS is really messed up if the OP is correct and needs to be changed.

Also, I hope we get accurate PS2 #'s this year. I know its hard to do but I would rather have the sales placed in random areas in the world then be 7 Million Plus under-tracked. I am sure they could figure something out.

So... Nothing?

Might link it to ioi's/source wall in the morning.

LOL why am i not surprised!

I'm not disagreeing with you but I pointed out the shipment numbers to Brett when they came in and I'm pretty sure back then we were in line with what was reported. You guys do have an annoying tendency to only talk about numbers you want changed, we're still 200m low on DS software for instance and close to 100m low on Wii software. I'm also pretty sure we had right about 100 Wii games over 1m through March - Zumba and a bunch of other long sellers topped 1m relatively recently.

The Wii figures you have to remember should be pretty close to shipments through March anyway since they clearly had to clear out the old-bundles before any retailers would buy the Mario Kart bundles - I'm expecting Wii shipments for the quarter to be around 3m units even though sales will be 2m or whatever.

I'd have to do some research on the DS side of things to see why we're high don't know off the top of my head.

If I had proof of other stuff being overtracked or undertracked, I'd post it. I did the same for the Forza numbers (500k under on Forza 1) and Mass Effect 2 numbers (PC data ignored completely). We haven't really had anything else. And if we do get them, they usually get changed anyway. Oh, and I also agreed that Demon's Souls (A game I love) needed adjusting down. So please don't try to play that card.

Even if I was doing it out of pure bias... Then there still wouldn't be a problem, as well... I'm not exactly making any of this up.

Anyway. Nope. Data wasn't in line at all. It's been the same since the shipments came in.

Wii had 116 1Million sellers at the same time when Nintendo reported 103 1Million sellers/shipped. The Wii hasn't had 13 games hit the Million mark in that time. Actually. Here, take a look yourself. Back in April Seece noticed it. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4023104 ... Would also like to add that we're nowhere near 100Million off on Wii SW by the look of things. As of April '11, we had Wii SW sitting at 662.38 Million sold... Nintendo had it at 716 Million Shipped. 50 Million on shelves/ships is perfectly fine.

Also... Are you seriously saying that there was less than a Week worth of stock in the Americas? Seriously? Less than a Weeks worth...? There were apparently 50/60k Wii's on shelves/ships around America, while it was selling 70k per Week. We had no news at all of shortages and the sales never dipped to indicate so. The Wii is quite obviously overtracked and it's plain and easy to see.
