There is literally nothing MS or anyone else can add to an OS to make the majority want or need to upgrade from Windows 7.

I appluad them for trying though. It won't work on tablets for the same reason all previous Windows tablets failed: desktop applications are hard to use and mobile applications are better done by smartphones.

Exact same words were used about XP

Yet now Windows 7 is much better than XP

Evolution will come and the video showed something promising.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

This will not replace windows 7 for computing, gaming or heavy duty tasks...however its a blessing for lower spec devices, tablets and netbooks. Thumbs up.

lower specs? it takes alot of power to do those multitasking moves.

I don't know how they expect to run on ARM architecture then...

Are you speaking of the tablets or the desktop.

Both. I got the impression by watching the video that mouse/keyboard or tablet touch screens can be used to play with both versions of windows...

In that respect, I wonder if they will start a new trend and potentially sell them side by side advertising them for different uses?  Is this something you guys think Microsoft would ever do?

Yeah, most likelly this will happen. On the other hand, one thing MS knows is how to charge money for their products...lol. They will have a sku and price for everything and could have different pricing if you just want one vs the other.

Yeah, it seems they are going for a version that supports touch and mouse/keyboard. But I'm certain based on the video, you need some serious power to pull off these multitaskings.

Wow, that does seem very different!  I makes me wonder if every computer will need to be a Surface 2.

It makes an even bigger case for multiple monitors, bigger monitoers, and touch screens, or kinect like connectivity.  I can see having a table touch screen in addition to or replacing the keyboard, then a giant view screen.

So your computer ‘desktop’ might actually be your desktop!

The Corning " A Day Made of Glass" Demo shows some this stuff too – I want the 3D wall TV.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

So this is the new media center *plus sign* browser *plus sign* apps ? becuase it seems that this interface is running on top of windows 7.

You are right.

Qualcomm announces dual- and quad-core Snapdragon processor support for Windows 8.

I will buy a new PC just before Skyrim. I'm using Win XP today and had planned to upgrade to Win 7.

This Windows 8 coming out next year won't have to change my plans, will it?

Oh yeah, and I love Microsoft.
