Yay~ When can I preorder?

It's a waste crime if SE don't use the battle system of FFXIII on another game.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

God your so annoying. I was mistaken and whatever I said was in the context of that. Get over yourself and don't bother replying to me because I won't reply back.

What I took from your argument was that the datalog idea really was one of the most stupid storytelling techniques used in modern video games. Even FPS' use better storytelling techniques than "read this FFXIII wiki!".

I dont think the datalog was a bad idea, i thought it was a good way of filling in some blanks and explaining some of the mythology not necessarily in the game.

however what was an absolute waste, was spending 6 hours watching teen melodrama, then adding insult to injury putting a significant amount of detail into the anelects and datalog, and not using any of that in the game. just forcing 6 hours of pure teenage trash down your throat.

about how abysmal developers think people talk to each other, which consisted mostly of teenage tantrums.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the teen melodrama either, but other people like that sort of stuff... probably. I mean The OC and Dawson's Creek were popular right? :P

But the datalog would have worked better if it wasn't the only thing to tell you about the world. As it was, it was the only way to fill in the blanks and tell you about this massive world the devs had created that was full of potentially great stories. Instead of finding information and discovering lore through observation, exploration and interaction, they shoved everything into an encyclopedia.

Its like reading a novel, but most of the description is left in the Appendix. You keep having to refer to the appendix to get the proper amount of information, but everytime you do the story loses pace and interest wanes. Except it's kinda worse because FFXIII is a video game and interaction is very important.

Since some female characters are dead (lololol spoilerz) , i think this one is going to be boy band spin off.

There's a reason why I think the writers of upcoming FFs should take a cue from FF VI's storytelling. Everything was mentioned via character interactions, or via flashbacks sequences (Shadow's dreams, Ramuh explaining the past of Terra and the Esper World, Setzer's past with Daryl, etc...).  There was no need to have a sub menu to have these things explained.  The story was also more epic than the later games, and didn't rely on teen melodrama.

Have you even seen the ending or what cocoon looks like?

You can't just make it "land" on pulse, its the size of the moon and it would just roll if it landed, don't be daft. Yes all the fal'cie died as soon as orphan was slain as they were all controlled by Orphan and no Pulse doesn't have Fal'cie, pulse has Titan's (Titan atomos, Titan they see at the top of the tower e.t.c.), any Pulse Fal'cie were taken to Cocoon during the war of transgression and they all persished at the end too as coon fell from the sky. Read the datalog the next time you play the game.

Seriously, you should apply your own advice to yourself.  Titan, Dahaka, Atomos are all Pulse Fal'Cie and are called as such in every Datalogs mentioning them. You either didn't read a thing, or just couldn't understand a thing of what you read.

Here is what the Datalogs say about the Pulse Fal'Cie Titan:

"This colossal fal'Cie is said to be the guardian of Gran Pulse's entire ecosystem. A biogenitor, Titan consumes weaker species and gives birth to new ones, thereby providing the stimulation needed to prevent ecological stagnation.

Unlike many other Gran Pulse fal'Cie, Titan does not involve himself directly with tasks of terrestrial manipulation. However, it is possible that he performs more subtle alterations of the landscape through the adjustment of biological cycles and the introduction of new, environmentally impacting species.

Ok well its not my fault the game never said they are fal'cie not titan's. It was never made clear in the cut scenes of the game. That is all I have to say about this subject.

O_o  Not your fault?  It IS your fault.  Especially so since you accused me of not reading the Datalogs while you're the one who obviously didn't.  Now you're saying it's not your fault if you didn't know a thing because it was in the Datalogs and not in the cut-scenes?

Wow, just... wow.

You know the worst part? The story in the datalog was kind of good, but why wasn't that one told in the game, how was the execution ruined so much? Why were important plot points stuffed into the datalog and not mentioned in the game? That makes me angrier at Toriyama who should be fired in my opinion.

No thanks, that would mean having to suffer Snow and Hope. Just bring Lightning and Sazh back, forget the other characters.

If you want a datalog done right then play Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

If Vanille and Fang are dead... then that means Serah and Dahj are dead too, right?

Wait...

Funniest thing I've read in this thread:

"You can't just make it "land" on pulse, its the size of the moon and it would just roll if it landed"

I thought it would have been a low blow if I came back at him on that one. ^^,
