CLOSING COMMENTS
Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game – it’s driving is as exhilarating as anything that’s gone before, and its slavish obsession with the minutiae of many of its cars ensure it's an encyclopaedia of automotive delights. Its brilliance on the track, however is matched by its sloppiness off of it, and there’s a lack of polish that would at one time have seemed sacrilegious to the series. Ultimately its driving wins out to ensure that it’s still a great game, but it leaves that nagging doubt; this could have been a masterpiece were it not for the fact that Polyphony was so absorbed with the detail that it took its eye off the ball.

7.0 Presentation
A cumbersome front-end and minimal, overlong loading screens hinder it, as do a series of other strange design choices.
9.0 Graphics
It's moments of sheer beauty ultimately outweigh the uglier ones, though sadly they don't quite outnumber them.
8.0 Sound
The visuals aren't met by the audio, and the engine notes lack grunt. The less said about the soundtrack the better.
9.0 Gameplay
For all its missteps in the single player mode it's still an unrivalled driving experience - and that's where it really counts.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
There's certainly not a paucity of content, and if any future patches can help streamline the online it could have serious legs.

Forza 3 got 9.4/10 in comparison

CVG has just given it a 8/10

The review is...awkward to say the least. It seems like he WANTS to love it but isn't allowed to. I can't make any claims to counter his own, my game hasn't arrived yet, but complaining that the damage is limited (an ADDED feature should never DETRACT from the score) and that the top gear test track is bland (Guess what? It's bland in real life. Real life -1?) are simply nitpicks from someone looking to score hits. I'll wait and see how I play it before making any judgements.

The sad thing is that even though it's getting really good scores I'm sure people will try to say anything less than a 9 is a failure and somehow spells doom for the PS3 and I'm sure others that claim this will further show x reviewers bias.

I'm actually a little surprised about the lack of polish comment.

I'm confused by it personally; the first few paragraphs suggest that A) At times the game looks unreal and B) It drives amazingly well. I wish he'd stick with a consistent thesis throughout.

I don't really care besides to pester darth, because I don't like racers (Things where you go around in circles) not named wipeout, but I'm surprised by the reviews of these places. If any game I'd bet on getting high as it's predecessors I'd have bet on this one.

still though if you're a fan of the series from the reviews it looks like it's the best one. (I think I didn't read a whole lot). But in these reviews theres nothing that they're saying is worse than previous GT's is there?

rubbish review, the ammount of gameplay it offers is unmatched by any other racing game. il make my forza comparison soon, the score for grafix is laughable



...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
