Forums - General Discussion - MMA Fedor Emelianenko Loses!

wow, I didn't notice that brock used a submission wrestling move on carwin......this is a good idea for brock to start mixing in some subs into his game.......his opponents will have to prepare for that and won't be able to spend as much time on their offense games and plus, submission wrestling is the easiest thing in the world for a good wrestler to learn.  The subs aren't complicated at all, very very basic stuff but it works.

I think everyone was shocked went Lesnar went for the Sub. It shows that he slowly develops into more well rounded martial artist, not only a ground and pounder. I hope he will improve his striking, because Carwin had huge advantage in this area.

Next for Brock is Cain, aparently the fight will be on quite soon (September) i really like Velasquez and think he is mega talented but i think Lesnar will take him down quite easily because of his size.

Next for Carwin? I've read on sherdog that the best option would be Cro Cop and i would love to see this fight. Im a huge mirko fan and a win in this fight would push him towards a title shot, but if this happens Carwin will probably shoot for TD straight away.

Yeah UFC 116 is the best PPV they've put on in years. Every fight was great. I mean even the preliminary fights had the goods. Did you guys see Harris knockout Branch via slam?

I saw that.....hurricane harris is great.  I love wrestler vs bjj fights too.  He held Branch up with one arm and then used the other to push his head back to magnify the force of the slam.  Amazing fight.

I would hope they don't match Carwin against Cro Cop, it would be another 1st round ko/tko victory for Carwin. I really like Cro Cop, but the guy is well past his fighting prime.

I'm not really sure who could present a decent challenge to Carwin. Dos Santos perhaps if he loses to Nelson, or perhaps a rematch with Mir?

Yeah at this stage in his career, Cro Crop would get destroyed by Carwin. Fighting Frank Mir would be pointless. Mir didn't stand a chance the first time and last I heard he was dropping a back down to the 245lb range. I'm guessing Carwin will get who ever loses in the Dos Santos/Nelson fight. That or they put him against Mike Russow. Russow can take a punch. Todd Duffee gassed himself out from hitting Russow so much. Come to think of it. Duffee vs. Carwin would be a good fight. They both like the bang and they are both huge. The fight would be a KO of the Night waiting to happen.

While i do think that Mirko would be a massive underdog i still would think that he stands a chance. Well maybe match him against Big Nog first and then let him dispose of Carwin.

Anyone watches Japanese MMA? I know since pride folded it aint the same , but DREAM promotion puts on decent cards.

last night at DREAM 15 Shinya Aoki defended his lightweight title from Tatsuya Kawajiri , Gerard Mousasi beat Jake O'brien, also Melvin Manhoef who was a big favourite lost

stayed up till 7am watching dream, damn good event.

So Frank Mir will get another shot at Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 119.

And Brock and Cain are set for UFC 121 in California.

Also Randy Couture fighting James Toney at UFC 118? I'm not sure how to feel about that one. Toney has even stated in one interview that he doesn't care about MMA fighting and is simply going to approach the fight as a boxer.

Both coming off a loss, I think its a make or break for Nog and Mir.  Both are great fighters and I would hate to see either go, but I think Nog is getting closer to the end of his career.

Brock and Cain will be a good fight, but I really wanted to  see Cain and Carwin fight (with winner fighting Brock) as it was originally supposed to happen.

James Toney has said multiple times that he wants to knock out Randy and go back to prof boxing.  Why would Dana EVER want this for the sport?  If Randy wins its almost a given, if Toney wins and leaves then goodbye to whatever Career Randy has left.  This fight is almost as meaningless as Canseco wanting to fight Walker.

Some of the upcoming fights I am really looking forward too are Jr. Dos Santos - Big Country, Little Nog - Ryan Bater, Franky Edgars - BJ Penn 2, and Chris Lytle - Matt Serra.
