I agree, its the most addicting Final Fantasy game I've ever played. I have God of War 3 and Resonance of Fate sitting here, and I haven't even touched them yet...

Are you my opposite? o.O

I had those as well just sitting there until I beat XIII. Lol.

I still can't stop playing it! I played God of War 3 for about 20-30 minutes on release day, and I kept thinking...if only I could see the damage I do(like 99999 damage chains I do with Fang) so I went back to playing Final Fantasy XIII. And Resonance of Fate is still in the shrinkwrap...I'm just killing random stuff in XIII and still having fun!

I should be able to Platinum GoW3 late tonight or tomorrow. Really quite pathetic compared to XIIIs. Then onto RoF.

I disagree, i find XIIIs combat system to be boring and repetitive.
I do not like the fact that i only control 1 character, i dont like the fact that if the leader dies the rest automatically dies, i dont like the class system.

Basically i find the AI of your partymembers to be too retarded, deciding to cast esuna to get rid of slow instead of healing the guy at 5% health, and when i go control the medic myself, the other members usually use questionable spells/abilities.

i agree with those who mentioned the combat system of the Grandia games, now that is a system that works and is fun.

oh and btw, i have beaten FF13 so don't come saying i haven't played it enough.

Potions.

FFXlll battle system is a rip off of the Grandia series but adds FF elements, Star Ocean, Tales, Xeno series, Grandia, Resonance of Fate all have better battle systems

I'm a bit damn annoyed by people complaining about the retarded AI, blah blah blah, no haste, only esuna, never heals....

If the AI is SO bad then make it so the leader is one of the damn roles you're bitching about. Heal and power YOURSELF up.

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

I disagree. I think the FFVII battle system is the best, just for the Materia, but that's just my opinion.

FFXIII, for me, loses points for a few reasons -

Party Leader dies = Game Over
Not having an option to control everyone, although it would be quite hectic to do so... I would like the opportunity.
Like some other people, not the best AI for your party members. Although it's not a big issue, i find it annoying during big fights.
Summons are pretty much... Useless.

It's the worst battle system in a FF game ever made.

For me it's one of the worst.

Still far far ahead of FFXII.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

nah ff7 does

I beg to differ, FF13 battle system is boring for me. It is too fast paced and the only thing you will ever need to do is to switch paradigm.

It's very good, probably best in a Final Fantasy game. However, there are some flaws and changes I'd make:

1. Be able to set AI prior to battle so what buffs/debuffs (e.g. If Enemy fire based > Fire buff else Haste>Protect>Shell etc.) kinda like the Dragon Age/FFXII system.

2. Transition between paradigms should be quicker.

3. Be able to mave the character manually to get out the way of offensive spells/moves.

1. They are actually quite good using bar or bal element if needed, and they do do haste first at least....

3. I am undecided on this one, as some attacks are based on position and if you can't move, then surely it is unfair. On the other hand, I don't want it to turn into an action RPG

1. They are good but I still think you should have the option to override the AI prior to a fight. A few times they've done the wrong thing or I thought to myself "Doing X would be better than Y". Not often, but enough times.

3. Basically even if they make it so you can't move a better evasion setup is needed. It's just a bit cheap when you have positional attacks if you can't take up a better strategic position. Combine with an AI system in 1 and you could have all party members spread out a bit better when not attacking/casting so a spell that hurts 1 character doesn't effect them all.

1. Well the simply way to do that would either be to let us use gambits for each of the roles, having a pre-existing set for each role, then we can just fiddle with them. Or, allow us to switch control of characters with L2/R2 so that we can manually get them to do what we want

3. Yeah, though I have managed to do some evasion by timing my attacks, but that is more luck than anything else
