What you said was always valuable and insightful and I think anyone with a rational brain and half an attention span knows clearly why the results are what they are  You told the truth and some people don't understand that things change week to week. As far as I can tell the $399 SKU produced a microcosm of the front loaded sales effect, and then heavily dropped through the month. Obviously this has to do with such an extreme early announcement. All people had to do was compare April to May to understand that.

Here's what people need to understand : if xb1 had averaged 40k/week evenly throughout the month, 200k is a fine result. Unfortunately that looks clearly unlikely, week one was assumably terrible, week two was bananas huge, then weeks three through five were way way down from week two. Where the problem comes is: did the week 3-5 sales dip back to pre $399 SKU baselines? Below? Because those were sales so poor that they essentially gave up the kinect promise for. Remember that the entire Xbox business model is based on supporting itself with mass numbers, and launching a new flagship console is eye wateringly expensive. If I'm correct in guessing that the sales are now as bad as preannouncement 399 sales, then July numbers will confirm what I'm saying, and xb1 will be in hella deep poop. Next up on the board is a big price cut, since all the big titles this year look like multiplats tbh. I think Destiny will dwarf everything else.

Actually these numbers are not great for a console that just had a $100 pricecut. This is not even comparing it to the PS4. MS would of expected a lot better.

The numbers just look great against the abysmal month of May.

A bit of maths to see how well it actually did.

77k for 4 week May, that 19.25k a week. If it was a 5 week May like this June month it would of sold 96.25.

Now if we take a look at the PS4 numbers to gauge the natural increase from May to June, June usually sell more consoles in May (because the PS4 had nothing out of the norm happen so should give us a good idea of the natural increase).

May PS4  - Avg 49.25 a week (X1 19.25k)

June PS4 - Avg 53.8k a week (X1 39.4k)

So thats roughly a 10% naturally increase

so if we increase the X1 May numbers by 10% we get 106k

Take that away from the the June numbers and we get 91k.

So the X1 price cut increase sales by 91k

So while it's debatable if it's a good increase or not, you can factor in the claims that less people bought a X1 in May to wait for June pricecut. If that is true than that increase is less than great. Also after the sales spike, expect this to offset the the increase for next month. The other consoles mightget a natural increase in July while the X1 might not increase at all or not as much.

Worse, I think the xb1 will return to April weekly rate or worse.

My numbers come from FAR more than 1 store. Not sure where that narrative started. Theres mods here who have seen it in PMs

I can vouch for Ben 100%. Granted his data may not line up with national numbers all the time, but Ben has a great track record with things he says (The new Destiny White PS4 SKU for example) and things he "leaks". People need to remember that the industry is a lot bigger than just Gamestop. Ben has no idea at all how other retailers do and we shouldnt expect him to know.

I have not even been on this site as long as you have and I knew the information BenV gave was regarding gamestop and his numbers have always only refelcted that. Heck it's not like what he said wasn't true because it could have infact been very true. You just seem to be reaching for something to argue about to be honest. BenV has an EXCELLENT track record with the information and leaks that he gives. So why give him a hard time over something that is basically NOTHING....seems silly on your part if you ask me. Especially seeing as NPD takes into account the WAY more places......your comments just seemed to be starting mess for no real reason. Didn't mean to jump in but it just kind of threw me off...

Late to the party but woah, did not think the PS4 would be this much ahead of the XB1, in fact I thought the XB1 would jst squeeze out a victory. I wouldn't call it a nail in the coffin but this has to be a morale killer to be sold out by your competitor by 70k during the month of you new SKU/price cut
