No shit, Sherlock.

This is semi related, but FF7 was the biggest game, and the hight of the series was defined by graphics and cinamatics. 3D graphics made a temporary spark in the market and this is what has allowed 7 8 and 10 to be the top games. 13 is under preforming meaning the spark is wearing off. It will be hard to put the series on top, but Square will have to go back to the basics and/or impliment the Blue Ocean Strategy in order to get to 7 8 and 10's point. |
I wish people would keep all this in mind when telling me the 3D games sold better, though 3D graphics were part of it
I guess going back to the basics of FFIV or creating a better fucntioning system than ATB would do the trick.
maybe not as far as going back to the basic of basics wich was done in FFCC series as well as KH1 and KH:CoM
KH2 was too much X mashing to require much strategy
Just curious if someone else thinks the same...
Please, I'm not ranting to piss anybody off, just sharing my thoughts on the FF/LS connection. To each their own.
I've hardly ever played any RPG's, Mystic Quest (SNES), Chrono Trigger (DS) and the Mario RPG's - that's all. I'm a huge Zelda fan though, and currently I'm in the mood for some bigger, story driven game, just like most Wii gamers. So when Last Story was announced, I was interested, and headed over to Gametrailers to get a short impression of the Final Fantasy series as it has evolved.
Turns out I seem to absolutely hate Final Fantasy XIII and Versus. It looks like 100% trash culture to me. Ridiculously overblown fantasy action, like an androgynous 15 year old poser stopping an army with his blade. The characters, jesus! They all look like a teeny boy group from Hongkong, pretending to be, dunno, statesmen? It's awful.
Then the inflationary use of all things potentially impressive - flying cities and magic and flashing lights everywhere. It's just tiring. One of the things I like about Zelda is that it spares things like these for special occasions, with the games usually starting out in fairly normal settings.
Talking about gameplay, FF totally looks like what I already hated when the first Playstation was released with its CD drive: Flashy prerendered cutscenes over actual play time.
Sooo, after all that ranting, here's my point: Does anybody else hope for "The Last Story" to be fundamentally DIFFERENT from today's Final Fantasy? I sure do.
Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

NIntendo makes gameplay-games, and they own the IP. So yeah, i think so.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
Í just don't want it to be turn based.
I also don't want it be based on J-pop culture like the last FF's.
Medieval themed is the way to go.

A lot of people here think the same, just don't usually say it out loud since it brings nothing but flamewars.
Even with all my tolerance and indulgence to FF franchise I can't stand it anymore, I sure do hope so.
I saw how the logo was designed, then I knew it would be something akin.
Soriku said: Huh...since when did making your own choices guarantee it sales, and when did games that don't allow you to have choices become HD games? What about those type of games before this gen? It's going to be a Nintendo publishes game, there will be plenty of gameplay. |
So The Last Story is for Wii?
