Just curious if someone else thinks the same...
Please, I'm not ranting to piss anybody off, just sharing my thoughts on the FF/LS connection. To each their own.

I've hardly ever played any RPG's, Mystic Quest (SNES), Chrono Trigger (DS) and the Mario RPG's - that's all. I'm a huge Zelda fan though, and currently I'm in the mood for some bigger, story driven game, just like most Wii gamers. So when Last Story was announced, I was interested, and headed over to Gametrailers to get a short impression of the Final Fantasy series as it has evolved.

Turns out I seem to absolutely hate Final Fantasy XIII and Versus. It looks like 100% trash culture to me. Ridiculously overblown fantasy action, like an androgynous 15 year old poser stopping an army with his blade. The characters, jesus! They all look like a teeny boy group from Hongkong, pretending to be, dunno, statesmen? It's awful.
Then the inflationary use of all things potentially impressive - flying cities and magic and flashing lights everywhere. It's just tiring. One of the things I like about Zelda is that it spares things like these for special occasions, with the games usually starting out in fairly normal settings.

Talking about gameplay, FF totally looks like what I already hated when the first Playstation was released with its CD drive: Flashy prerendered cutscenes over actual play time.

Sooo, after all that ranting, here's my point: Does anybody else hope for "The Last Story" to be fundamentally DIFFERENT from today's Final Fantasy? I sure do.
