I find it interesting.How has it sold over 10m already?

And no sing of stopping to 12-14m units..It has even outsold Super Mario Galaxy already,which is at around 9m.

If I would say its basicly same thing as Ds version (which has sold 21m), same could have said for Call of duty MW2...But still it sure has suprised me.

I guess people like it?

I think:
-Console games sell more than handheld counterparts
-Mario tackles 'core', 'casual' & 'extinct' audiences
-It's mario
-4 player simultaneous perhaps?

It's a brilliant game. It's a Mario Bros. game. It's a riot in multiplayer. It appeals to all.

The reason it sold I think it relates more to older gamers who bought Wii's for their children this past christmas. The controls are not complex and could be picked up and played by young and old. Also you can never go wrong with a 2d Mario.

It's retro goodness any man, woman or child can immediately pick-up and play

It's laugh-out-loud fun to play with friends

Mario is one of the best known brands in the world

Super Mario Bros was in 40m households on NES and this is tapping into all those that remember endless playing that game in the day. Huge nastalgia factor.

NSMB on DS is another 21M audience it's tapping.

Easily game of the year for 2009.

It's a console 2D Mario Platformer released in the holidays just after a pricecut and also advertised majorly.

Playing 4-player mode in NSBW is more "hardcore" then all FPS put together.

Dman it total anarchy at my house when that happens.

It's been awhile since a classic Mario game has been on a console. I'd like to see Nintendo continue to make more New Super Mario games.
