There were a lot of great third party games on the N64, and you're not exactly in a position to pass judgment on the library

What are these??? I'd love to be enlightened, are they better/as good as Ogre Battle 64???

Some of them are listed in the OP, more in my collection, though I hardly owned all of them. Treasure's games like Mischief Makers were great, the first two Turoks were awesome, Tony Hawk was a bit of a staple back in the day, Body Harvest was very nice (though I only rented it), BattleTanx, the best Harvest Moon, Shadow Man, Resident Evil 2, Battle for Naboo, Shadows of the Empire.... Hell, that's just stuff I played

Few (if any) were as good as Ogre Battle 64, but I don't consider that a knock against them since that's my favorite RPG of that generation

Yea its bullshit. Shadowman and the Turoks NOW

....Who even owns the rights to these games, now?

Good question. Both of those were Acclaim, right?

Who published the last Turok game?

A better looking Resident Evil 2 (better looking that the ps1) Mystical Ninja starring Goemon, NBA Hangtime, Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey, multiple wrestling games, Mischief Makers, Rayman 2, Body Harvest were all excellent 3rd party games that I owned on the N64 and I'm sure there were many more great 3rd party games that I did not own!  that doesen't even include the countless amazing games that both Nitendo and Rare made for the N64!  I would take the N64 over the ps1, ps2, both Xbox systems, all Sega systems, and the Wii any day of the week, watch your mouth when you call a console sad!!!

....They put out BattleTanx on the PS1?

N64 had many great 3rd party games, and many multiplat games were better on N64. Silverlunar you should not be talking when you didn't even own the system. It's easy to look back on it now and say that many of the games weren't great but PS1 games haven't exactly aged well either...

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

@Khuutra

This is going to get confusing.

Acclaim Entertainment actually published the Turok games. I don't think Midway had anything to do with them. Acclaim Entertainment went bankrupt in 2004. A company called Acclaim Games purchased the logo, but they have nothing to do with them. A company called Throwback Entertainment bought 150+ of Acclaim's games. As far as I can tell*, it looks like Turok is not a part of that.

The last Turok game was developed by Propaganda Games, which is part of Disney Interactive Studios. It seems they didn't want to publish it, so they slapped the Touchstone name on it instead. Touchstone is merely a label owned by the Walt Disney Company, and does not exist as a separate company, so they can do that. Looking at Disney Interactive Studios other games, it seems they have never published a Mature game, so that is probably why they didn't put their own name on it.

In short, it looks like Disney has the current rights.

*Here is a list of their games: http://www.throwbackentertainment.com/games/index-2.html

Considering the rate of Virtual Console games slowed to a crawl and we are getting new N64 games on the Virtual Console at a rate of a about 1-2 a year, I wouldn't hold my breath.

It would be faster just to go out and buy the actual games yourself for the physical N64. They're not that much more than $10. Heck, I got Majora's Mask, Mischief Makers and Goldeneye 007 all for under $10.

I snagged Majora's Mask, DK64, Mario 64, and Super Smash Bros. for $20 and sold Mario 64 and Super Smash Bros for $25 (already had them). So I got $5 and two N64 games. I would love to find a copy of Turok 2 if that never comes to VC.
