I think he means that every success the Ps3 has comes with an equal sacrifice.

Example. The PS3 Slim was selling like hot cakes and is still keeping good sales even after the sales died down a little. However, every PS3 sold is at a loss. Sony then relies on their software royalties for profit, not the sales of the console. This has been discussed in another thread where Kaz Hirai stated it.

Now, Sony has pushed out some great games this year, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Demons Souls etc. however these games don't sell huge numbers which are needed for profit, so the losses grow.

Just little things like that. I wouldn't say that all good news is followed by bad news, but I will say that Sony is putting alot on the line and sacrificing alot to try and succeed.

What nonsense. The PS3 sold 1 million the last charts and sales are dying? Look at the last 4wks of PS3 sales show me the sales decline.

You are talking from where the sun don't shine.

If this is the case then what of the systems that sell less than the PS3 since the slim? They must be dead.

What crap about U2 not making profit, how the hell do you know U2 and K2 hasn't made a profit? Have you seen the accounting books?

More crap pulled from where most of your post came from.

Sony might not be profitable overall but to list a succesful game like U2 that is still selling well (and no one know the LTD sales) as being an assist in these losses is....I won't use the word.

I have nothing against anyone knocking any console but to bring all this made up false bullshit is annoying.

I am going to give you a laddar, and then you are going to get your raging, rambling, foaming at the mouth fanboy-self off my back.

I have edited my original post.

I am not a fanboy or a creator of made up facts.

As I said made up facts annoy me regardless of what console they are aimed at.

Either way you carry on thinking of me as a fanboy and I will continue to think of you as a fact-fixer.

Peace.

That is why I ended my post with "peace".

That was me saying "let's leave it at that. No reply necessary, have a nice day".

@Legend

Lol I'll make a guess and take that as sarcasm? - Your last post.

@Mario64: Well, it's going to take quite a while before PS3 is successful, it likely isn't ever going to be. Or a while before it starts turning profit. If Sony is able to break even with it, it can consider itself very lucky.

If a console which is selling one million a week is still not considered successfull then I guess the console which sold 600k the same week (and sold less than the first every year from launch in aligned sales) must be a terrible failure  ?

I hope you realize that its not clear cut. If you look at the console from a sales perspective then you have to look at it from a financial perspective as well. But if you're looking at it from a games perspective then the sales are less relevant, and the success there at a personal level is whether the first/second/third party games make you happy.

Even if the Xbox 360 sold less, if it made more profit then by one metric its still more successful.

Tease.

@Mario64: Considering PS3 isn't going to reach the same popularity PS2 did and PS3 already have lost all the money Sony made from PS2, it's highly unlikely Sony can break even with PS3.
The one one million week just isn't even remotedly enough.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Yeah Sony is doooomed, now I see it : they need to sell 10 million consoles per week to be undoomed, and outsell 360 30:1 everywhere like they already do in Japan.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

I'll think about that when I play the best games of the year on the best selling console, it'll bother me a lot.

I'm sure people at Sony are so sad now they're winning.

maybe im wrong, but i think that the bad new are exclusive for you: ps3 its doing very well after the slim, price drop, etc...

love when the fanboys get fucked by the success of others consoles/games.

pd: yes i know, my english sucks....

These are harsh times for everyone!

Bad news are common place!

Even trolling the PS3 isn't as easy as it used to be!

Where will this end i ask?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

@xxx : yeah the latest doom threads are even more pathetic. Now it's "Ok PS3 is successful but Sony isn't profitable".

I can already see the next ones : "Ok now Sony is profitable, but PS3 still needs a power plug to work, what a failure".

Or : "PS3 sucks since online functionalities don't work when you're offline".

It's just baffles me how easily people go from "It's too damn expensive!!!" to "SONY just doesn't know how to make money."

And you have no one but Sony to blame about that!

Its probably more to do with the fact any thread that even remotely criticizes the PS3 at the moment stays on the front page for weeks as the fanboys trawl in to flame other users for having an opinion. I personally don't see a lot of bad news thread for PS3 on here, just reality check threads.
