No other past handheld has beaten the ps2 in sales so why isnt that big....and also I do believe the wii will beat the ps2 also as it is tracking above it in aligned sales but it only will if nintendo doesnt pull the plug on the wii for another 5 years.



N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

It did not, in point of fact. The PS2 has outsold every handheld ever. If the DS beats it, it will be a very, very big deal.

Should be sometime next year.

DS will become the top selling videogame console of all time.

PS2 will have to sit with the title of best selling home console of all time.

Anyway, i am 99.9% positive that this site is undertracking PS2. Shipment's are over 140m now... And i can't see there being 7 million+ PS2's on shelves.

It is of course very big accomplishment but it is bigger if Wii outsells PS2 (it definitely could do it ). Handhelds have theoretically bigger market (individuals vs households). Handhelds are also cheaper to buy from the beginning. I am pretty sure though that neither of these two beats PS2 total software record. Handhelds don't sell as much software as home consoles and Wii has too weak third party support (not anywhere near PS2 level). Also software market is more divided between consoles than last gen.

as much as i do agree in a way...........hand held games consoles and consoles are different, still an amazing achievment for the DS Though but even when it overtakes the ps2 in sales, ps2 will still be the best "Console" of all time and DS will be the best "hand held gaming console"

if entertainent continues to exist, and gaming is a part of it, I'd say probably around two years.

PS2 sales are lower than they're usually said to be.

I believe the DS will claim the "Best selling video game console" of all time next year. I'll go for..... October next year
