I will buy the microsoft console at the launch. I know it will be the best console of its gen, just like xbox and 360 were.

What is so funny about that? Both of those consoles offer more interesting games than their counterparts of the same gen.

Waiting is fine sometimes, but if things turn out like this generation for the Wii there is little point. First price drop three years in (I'm not waiting that long,) and my launch hardware still working great. True, libraries start lacking, but I'm more than happy playing things as they come.

In short Nintendo has done a lot to make early adoption appealing.

Yea, Nintendo didn't screw the customers with extremely expensive hardware and continuous price drops. With a market that has been trained to buy $200-300 consoles at launch, people are going to feel screwed when one comes out at $450-600, and then has price drops every 12 months for the rest of it's life.

Anyways, anyone who is expecting a price drop in ~12 months after launch for their favorite console is also expecting them to be overpriced and come in last place.

Xbox 3 if there is a next gen Halo/Gears on launch

Wii 2 if there is a next gen Zelda on launch.

I won't fall for nintendo again next gen. The wii game wise, has been a complete failure for me I can count on one hand how many actual good games the system has. Unless they go HD, big hard drive, new innovation, and on par graphics with sony and microsoft, count me out.

I'll probably keep my ps3, sell my 360 and wait and see how it pans out.

i will not make any immediate purchase of a console. the only console that i will definitely purchase is the next xbox though. on the opposite spectrum...its practically assured i will not purchase nintendos next console. while i do enjoy some of their games i just feel like ive been fooled too many times by them.
