PS3 is a legend.

Sony are back.

Damage control is in full force.

No damage control is needed, seeing as the raw numbers still have Wii outselling PS3 WW by >500k this week.

I love how some people in this thread seem so eager to predict Sony's return to stardom, when the high sales numbers stem mostly from a game with years upon years of built-up hype. And all the while, of course, continuing to ignore or marginalize Nintendo, who actually are trouncing Sony.

Sony fans are starting to sound like "Comical Ali" broadcasting that the invincible troops of Saddam Hussein are trouncing the American invaders, all the while ignoring the increasingly less distant explosions and gunfire...

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Did i say which set of fans the damage control was from? No.

"Mostly"? ~150k from 1m isn't "most".

Oh, and Ninty don't (or never have) had a last placed "doomed" console sell 1 Million units in a week. Ninty get ignored, as these sales are now expected while PS3 sales shatter expectations of most.

Oh, and i think it's worth noting Garcian...

Last year Wii outsold PS3 on this week by over 1.2 Million units.

It's amazing how things can change, eh?

Then again, Cheney said they'd have Baghdad under control in 5 days (and nearly all of Iraq)... it still isn't so this is kind of a poor comparison in my opinion. The Iraq war can't be won, the console war can. But let's not digress...

What changed was the PS3's momentum. It went from a dying console last year, which was suspected to die this year... To be the first 3rd place console ever to sell 1million units in a single week.

Being outsold by the Wii by over 1.2 Million units one year, then pulling that gap back to ~500k units the next year despite a Wii Pricecut and a much stronger Wii holiday lineup with plenty of supply... Is amazing.

Don't forget PS3 price cut, re-design, and its biggest game ever released in said week - those had a lot EVERYTHING to do with it too!

But yes, PS3 has done well.

That's the point. It's amazing how things have changed in a year.

Oh, and at the red... PS3 - It Only Does Everything.
