Forums - Gaming - Dante's Inferno similarity to God of War

Hence why people call it a clone of GOW.

360 demo is coming soon i believe

"If new things are so great, where have they been the whole time?"

God of War was a ripoff of DMC, imho.

Games steal from each other. When DMC came out, it kinda invented the subgenre that GoW, Ninja Gaiden, DMC, Dante's Inferno, the new 3d castlevania games, Rygar, and Bayonetta are in right now. Just joining that subgenre is in a way, ripping off DMC.

Anyway, Dead Space was a direct ripoff of RE4, with a different premise, and that game was great. It wouldn't surprise me if DI differentiated itself enough for some people to actually prefer it to other games in that subgenre.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Ure not the only one that noticed that. They copied A LOT from God of War. It was kind of annoying how people do that just to make a quick buck, but then again most developers do this all the time.

this is why people who never played God Of War will never understand why it is called a clone it is a PERFECT Clone in every sense of the word

God of War and DMC are very different , Ninja Gaiden is different from GoW and Bayonetta is different from Gow , Dark Siders is different from Gow.

Dante's Inferno on the other hand is the exact clone of God of War. there is a difference from being in the same genre and being a straight copy.

@bolded, funny you said that because its made by the same guys who made Dante's Inferno.

I finally played the demo and I have to say that it is a very blatant clone of God of War.  It's not such a bad thing, as God of War is a great game, but I could't help but spend the whole demo thinking that I have played this before.

Other games that were similar had their own differences that made them stand out among the others.  Devil May Cry, Onimusha and Heavenly Sword, but Dante does not have that, at least from what I played in the demo.

I will still buy the game and I hope it offers some different gameplay but as the story goes, it's just as interesting as God of War.

In the sense that it's an action hack and slash game, sure it's a ripoff of DMC. Just like every platformer is a ripoff of Mario, right? But GoW isn't an almost identical clone of DMC. Dante's is just GoW with a new skin.....

They have an interview with the director of Dante's Inferno running daily on GameStop TV.   He fully admits that they borrow a nubmer of ideas from God of War, and they're trying to use this to their advantage.  He basically says in the interview "To all those looking forward to God of War III, if you only have a 360, buy Dante's Inferno!"

They're advertising it as the 360's answer to God of War, and basically ignoring the ps3 version of the game.

Hack n' slash games generally sell better on ps3 (DMC, etc. - hell Heavenly Sword is the best selling hack n' slash game on a single platform this gen so far), but I get the feeling Dante's Inferno will sell substantially better on 360 ala Borderlands, partly due to the marketing and partly due to it releasing only a month before God of War III.

There is a rip-off and then there is this, it is just too far
