I enjoy odd ball terms like casual and hardcore, especially since they are functionally just insult operators
anyone else find it Ironic the Pinball hall of fames are deamed casual even though to actually play a decent game of pinball takes quite alot of dedication and skill I'm sure quite a few reviewers had quite a few ball kicked the out the outdrains by the slingshots in jivetime,

besides there is only 1 hardcore games, and that is contra Hardcorps, and that tnn racing game
anyway by comparison my little sister likes stuff like the aforementioned hardcorp and contras in general (though she prefers hardcore because she can play as a girl), metal slug, sengoku 3, Pinball hall of fame, streets of rage, golden axe, sonic the hedgehog, and so forth
so I guess my little sister is an oldschool gamer, playing games released 20 years before she started school.

It is hard to define what hardcore is. GTA is definitely not hardcore. It is the game people play when they are not really gamers, they just want to shoot something and run over hookers.

Hardcore is like when I'm playing Medieval II: Total War in a fight (on very hard), myself England and the enemy Milan.

And I just sent it to my friend to show off. That is an example of hardcore playing. Our units were about the same strength units.

Ah, but you download a bunch of games off Virtual Console and WiiWare. Tracking down digital-only titles IS pretty hardcore (in industry terms).

Many of the "casual" games that you list are hardcore. I just made a thread the other day explaining why Wii Sports Resort is the most hardcore game of the year.
