I'd like to see a new, more difficult "Master Quest" kind of scenario being unlocked by collecting all the items in the game. I'd be satisfied as Hell if the Poe souls gave me that.

'and inncreasing enemy damage and health would not make the combat appreciably harder.' oh i think if you increase damage and decrease health enough you can make a worm a hard enemy, wtf man. the claim is that combat gets an option to really become hard for those who want ( i repeat this the 4th time in this thread ). and sorry guy, if the puzzles were what made TP hard for you, well then ... no comment, those 'tasks' havent deserved the word puzzle. saying Zelda games only draw difficulty out of puzzling is ridiculous false, I have more memories of dying in hard fights than not being able to solve puzzles ( only one popping into my mind is water temple in Oot ) its about making a seperate part of the game more enjoyable for a peculiar crowd. man, thats not even an argument, that is logic, please dont try to counter this. |
just don't pick up any heart peices. There, instantly harder. You now only have 3 hits. I used to beat OoT like that along with a groken giant goron sword and refusing to lock on to enemies. The dificulty of the combat is completely up to the user.
Now, as Khuutra said, a Master Quest would be cool. Competely replace all the easy badguys with hard badguys. Still wouldn't be too tough, but it would be fun.

The bosses in Majoras Mask were difficult, and so is finding all the fairy parts in the Dungeons. So there are still some hard moments in the Zelda games, however most gamers don't give up very easily and keep trying no matter what and you are bound to think it's easier the more you play it because you will improve all the time.

No, enemies are already challenging enough, what I do wanted is more challenging puzzles and bosses (not the ammount of health thay have, but the way to kill them)
What about a more fleshed out hint system like in Metroid Prime which can be turned on/off, combined with the Super Guide from NSMBWii for the combat and physically challenging parts?

That could just work. Although I found it a bit frustrating when I didn't know wat to do in Prime.

I think yes. It could give to the Zelda games more repaly value.

No. I don't think Zelda would benefit that much from extra difficulties. Instead I would prefer more organic dificulty. The game would judge your performance. If you health is high most of the time then the enemies would be smarter. If you health often drops down a lot then enemies would be easier. Also it should be too easy based on your play. It should be difficult enough to keep you into the game.
As for the difficulty itself. Increase Hit Points and Damage of the enemies has sucked. It's very artificial and tends to make the combat more meaningless. Especially increase the HP. I played a game where the bad guys were suppose "get harder" as you progress through the game. Instead all they did was boost the bad guy HP and Magical defence. It was really frustrating because even though your getting "stronger" the bad guys HP and defence was increasing slightly more than your growth. ALl that did was increase the time of the fights. Was it harder. sorta, but it certainly made my character feel weaker in the long run.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
Difficulty levels would be rather pointless.
I say just make the game in general more challenging, and let the noobs fall back on the new auto-play system they implemented in NSMBW. :P
Yes they do need difficulty levels. My ex girlfriend and her mom both tried playing TP, and I had to beat certain aspects of the game or they were going to give up on the game entirely.
Also, I agree it has become pretty easy for the most part and I would fully enjoy the added difficulty if given the choice.
