Well I hope it will still reach 200k first week! I mean come on, it's the highest rated tales series according to famitsu and on the most popular console in the country too! I guess jrpg is really dying huh?

@Mahorosan: I think so, since last week Samurai Warriors 3's first day figures included the other versions.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

We will find out next week if JRPG's are really dying. At least we know it's not a matter of quality or limited customer base, since it's the highest rated Tales game ever and it's on the console with the biggest userbase.

Ah ok. That is a bit disappointing. Oh well won't stop me from playing the game. Will be interesting to see what it does lifetime in Japan compared to previous tales titles.

Kind of sad, but didn't ioi say that games launch smaller during the holidays, and instead have more weeks with stronger sales? If so, it could still easily outdo ToS2 and possibly PS3-Vesperia.
at least it didn't bomb. i don't think those sells are bad. and besides we've all seen wii games have great legs. even ToS2 has legs albeit small ones
and as for ToS2 outselling it. wasn't the first one like the best selling tales game. of course the sequel was going to have a good opening

Yeah, I'm planning to buy wii to play ToG

mm yeah i was thinking maybe the game will be less front loaded than other tales games cuz its in the holidays, but testres raised a good point, FF13 is releasing next week. Could that have affected the game sales? I recall that you Testres mentioned something about this before if i'm not mistaken, that ToG's release date was an odd one just right before F13 week
trestres you are so annoying with your atttitude, really.
Opening for ToG has not been fantastic, but Tales games are selling all the same in Japan anyway. Recent ones all have ended up inbetween 200k and 300k, no matter if they were good like Tales of Innocence, bad like Tales of the Tempest, on handhelds or on home consoles, main games, sequels or spinoffs.
Since Wii games are usually selling a bit better over the weekend than HD games, it might end up with a similar first week as ToV on PS3 which would be fine for me. Determing if the game will be a hit is its performance in the west though, if it gets a proper release.
@kop: Probably someone mentioned it in my PS3 vs Wii Japan thread.
