Forums - Nintendo - Congratulation Boom Blox

I want to congratulate Boom Blox for reaching 1 Mio Sales. (according to vgchartz)

To celebrate this event I want to post some very old quotes with links:

"This game should be a million seller, but it won’t get there, assuring an early demise for a game that should have been a great franchise for EA and all but assured Wii gamers that creative minds like Steven Spielberg would continue to make games for the platform."

can be found here: http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2008/06/why-gamers-hate-on-the-wii.html

" ... we're again afraid there's just no room for good third-party titles (even family friendly and marketable ones like Boom Blox) on Nintendo's console."

To hell with Boom Blox. It made me not want to play games ever again. If you want to bring up a 3rd party game on the Wii that's of high quality don't bring up this one. It makes it look like there are no good games on the Wii and that Wii owners have bad taste.

Wait, wasn't this game a flop?

No.  The sequel is though.

Thankfully.

Well I actually think the games is tons of fun. Clever, colorful , great physics. The sequel is even better.

The first one was a success long before the million mark. It was such a success that they decided to make a second one that... um... Hey Boom Blox hit one million!

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I actually clicked on this thread cause the topic creater's name is *giggles* ...hentai...
I don't care about Boom Blox..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I'm gonna buy Boom Blox Bash Party someday. But I have two questions:
1.Which is selling faster now between the original & the sequel
2.How do the sales of the sequel in terms of weeks since release compare with the original?
OP,mind posting the chart?I can't be bothered 2 load it on my slow PC now....

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

I also had very good times with boom blox with the girlfriend and often with a bunch of mates.

However I cant really aplaud the game for reaching the 1 million mark in light of the second game selling about 1/10 of the original.

However way you choose to see it (too soon after the original, limited /wrong marketing) i cannot fathom this drop in sales.

Perhaps customer satisfaction was not high for the first game. Or perhaps people didnt really see the need to have more boom blox in their lifes.

Does anybody know of any other games that had similar drops in sales from the first to the second installment?

I would have thought that a game has to be milked for at least 3-4 installments till it eventually fades into apathy

It's a great game, and 1 million is well-deserved.

It's too bad the sequel megaflopped, though.
