Yes it does, they are separate. Have you even watched any of the wand videos from e3 or from engineer's videos?

(this isn't any controller seen at E3, its a concept, therefore we do not really know how it functions).

OK OK. I'm starting to piece this together now. With this concept design, you can use one controller on its own (as in Wiimote only). Two controllers together, but not connected (As in Wiimote + Nunchuck), OR  two controllers connected  together, which would basically replace the DS3.

yes!

It's feasible.... but who knows?

I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a Sony design that they leaked out to test the market.

Yea, so...this is a genius design.

If it existed I think it should be sold as a set, instead of buying each piece separately like Wii. Also, reduce the size of that ridiculous ball. Geez.

To start a new topic, are those speakers towards the front of the controller?

Yeah, those are speakers. It looks as if it's designed to completely outdo the wiimote. It does everything the wiimote does and also satisfies the traditional playstation gamers. But yeah, either the balls should be removable, or shrunk.

One bad thing about that design is it require a right and left version of the controller. It would be far better if they were neutral. If you don't understand what I'm saying, notice how they connect. They require usb ports on the inside, thus a left vs right design.

Most companies would strive for a single product that could do both halves.

Well this is a mock up. Not even a design that Sony is working on.

I will say that I wasn't thinking about a left handed approach to this idea, but then again the industry never really thinks about it either. Right handed dominance has been here for awhile.

I think he's more talking about having it neutral so that sony wouldn't have to produce 2 different wands where everything is the same except 4 of the buttons look different.

As I understand it the balls are essential to the way the wand works. So we may not see a wand without it. Though maybe it could be lessened. Like a half-dome at the front of the controller so that its less obnoxious.

That cracked me up badgenome. But actually the controller reminds of a pair of red boobs popping out.

What kind of porn movies have you been watching???

Well then I guess I understood wrong. If the ball isn't necessary, WHY IN GOD'S NAME IS THERE A BALL!?

Ridiculous.

where did you get these pictures from?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Couldn't they make the ball smaller or must it be that massive to be read correctly?

I'm guessing it's to act as an numchuck, because it might not be necessary for all games. Plus, if you notice, one design has no balls at all, so that it can play regular games as well.

The ball is there to provide millimeter sensitive feedback. Because of the ball, the controller is actually more much more precise than the wiimote, and does not require a "defaulting" setup, like the wiimotion+ does with wii sports resort.

The PS3 Wand and WM+ are both 1:1 motion tracking. The only thing that would make the wand better would be if it can actually track your position in 3D space, as in if you were closer to the TV or farther away etc, which it probably has to do. Otherwise if you were to do a stabbing motion it wouldn't be able to tell.
