It is a large gap considering that all previous GTA titles have been home to the Playstation...one would at least expect the sales to be on par.

All ps2 GTAs where on the xbox also

And that gap is small considering the user base

Not to mention the exclusive GTA4 DLC on the Xbox360, which made people who own both console to favor the xbox version

If I recall correctly the $50 million was actually a loan from MS (possibly paid with interest), not free money.

Without this loan Take 2 could actually have gone bankrupt, or be easier to buy out by EA.

Of course not. Assuming there's no exclusive content for the next GTA it will be virtually neck and neck. Maybe more on the PS3 next time.

Its because of the install base difference (not as high now, but it was huge in April 2008) especially in America. There's nothing more to it then that.

And considering how big the difference was its amazing the difference is only 1.5 million or so. The 360 could have easily doulbed the PS3's sales of GTA4 I thought.

As everyone has said, that isn't a large gap considering the circumstances.

Anyway, it depends on when GTAV releases. If it's during a PS3 Win period, then yes, the gap will be smaller. If it's during a 360 Win period, it might be larger, who knows?

Next gap will be similar, but in favor of the PS3.

The gap is not as big as I expected actually. I thought the 360 version would be 2-3 million ahead at least.

Two quick things.

1 - At the time of its release ps3 owners had very few good games to buy for their system. This helped it sell very well.

2 - The xbox 360 is pirated and I know at least 3 people with modded consoles that don't buy games. This hurt 360 sales by at least 1-2 million.

Overall the ps3 did better than I expected though....cheers!
