Forums - PC Discussion - Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC SPECS!!!!

I'm happy about the high requirements. Probably the game will look very good.

My PC can handle it well, but I still not now if I should play this or wait for BF3.

With a low-end GPU like that, I hope you seriously weren't expecting too many games to play well in the first place. >_>

This is the first time I've seen a game require a GTX 260 for specs, even if it is recommended. Would my Geforce 9100 work? My specs are below.

CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 Quad-Core 2.6GHZ
RAM: 8 GB DDR2
GPU: Geforce 9100 with DirectX 11(i think the drivers were only updated from DX10, as I'm aware Nvidia hasn't released DX11 cards yet.
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

This game looks like so much fun. I know everything in my PC is fine, but I'm unsure about the GPU. Would it work?

That GPU is far too weak. The rest of the system will be bottlenecked by it.

I've thought about adding a card in, something along the lines of the GTS 250, but I don't want to break the warranty on my computer by opening it. I was also wondering how much the 9100 could handle in terms of certain games.

They wont be able to tell you've changed the card out if you swap it back in if something does go wrong. Make sure your PSU is strong enough first, though.

My PSU is 350 watts, I think. I have a feeling it won't be enough as I've seen some of these GPU's require at least 500W's. I could be mistaken, though.

Yeah, modern GPUs require at least 500W PSUs, with some of the newer ones recommending as high as 550-600W.

Would getting a 700W PSU fry the components in the computer since it was made to run on half of that?

Yes, that would be much better.

His "Yes" does not mean it will fry the components, just that a 700w PSU would be better. Just verify that the PSU you're buying has the right amount of connectors for your motherboard and various components.

GPU power requirements are overstated. You can run a quad-core and a GTX260 system on a 350W PSU fine. It'll use about 250-300 under load.

More important is the quality and efficiency of the PSU.

Why do people ever buy laptops with intentions to play games other than solitaire on them? If I ever start using a laptop, it's going to be a tiny one meant for browsing and office programs.

My friend just bought an HP with 4 GB memory, a 2.6 GHz dual-core and a Radeon HD 4670 (with a 1366x768 or whatever it works out to screen) for under a grand.

Laptops that can play games well do exist, but they're far outclassed by desktops that cost half as much or less even, in some cases.
