mmm MH3 :P oh oooh
though both taiko and M&S i see as bigger losses since they really flopped. MH3 didnt flop, but i think Capcom overshipped alot, and that affected retailers

right now around $1 ~ 90 Yen. So ~$45 or less than $1 per copy sold. |
Oh wow, that's just awful.

The problem with MH3 was overshipping the standard edition, the CC Pro/console bundles did brisk business with regional sellouts even the 1st week. Same thing happened with MHG actually (standard overshipped, CC bundle continually sold out), they should've learned the first time around. I wonder if Koei, Konami and Namco will handle their coming bundles better?
Taiko Wii 2 and Mario & Sonic 2 were both pretty badly overshipped upfront imo. Both were slow burners originally, retail and the publishers should've planned more for that rather than upping initial shipments in the current economic climate.
No HD games in the list is a nice surprise though. The only real bomb there I can think of this year is 3DGH on PS3, which probably wasn't too anticipated anyway.

Yeah...that's why Dragon Quest IX is the best selling title of the year.
Final Fantasy stereotype much?

Since when are Dragon Quest characters manly? I mean, I don't see how DQ is a opposite of FF.

He's not saying they are, he's saying the game has a diverse audience. Kids play it, otaku play it, salarymen play it, housewives play it, seniors play it... Dragon Quest is an "everyone" game, like Super Mario.

Exactly. Which is why classifying 'all' Japanese game players as 'emo or metrosexual' is as stupid as classifying 'all' western gamers as 'shut-ins and gun toting homicidal maniacs'.
And to be clear, people use the 'metrosexual' stereotype to classify Final Fantasy because of its character design.
