Forums - Sony - So why do you get Trophies for?

i've been in a "Meh trophies are useless" "meh meh meh" "Nyeh Nyeh Nyeh" , but lately i like getting them, not for showing off, just for personal satisfaction of compeleting something.

its not that i wont play a game without trophies its just trophies make games that don't have extra replayability to have one.

for instance, some games get you unlock new costumes/ new modes ...ect

some games just don't have anything! instead they just throw in trophies and you get the same experience when getting them of course not the same as Using the extra content that is.

some people buy games just to get trophies to show off to friends, so they tend to buy the easiest games, thus making easy games selling loads, which is pretty unfair for something so useless.

so why do you get them trophies for?

I feel exactly the same as you about trophies. Also thought it was useless but in the end it can be fun to earn them and trow a bit more replayability. I never aim for platinum tho as I dont have enough time to stick to only 1 game. I dont care about showing off either.

Trophies complete me...........No but seriously, I just love hearing that little "chime" sound when I get a trophy; especially when I am not even trying for them.  It is really addicting personally, I probably cannot play a game unless it has trophies (now I see how my brother felt about achievements).  This is why if they want more people to pick up psp games they should included trophies (this would reduce piracy as well if it deactivates trophies if the game has been ripped).

They're pointless other than bragging rights. The only games I've platinumed are Uncharted and Uncharted 2 because they're amazing. Other games are too tedious or time-consuming.

I don't usually care about trophies...I'm trying to get my first platinum trophy ever with Demon's Souls just because the game rocks. :D

At some point, something must have come from nothing...

...nothing can come from nothing...

Sometimes I want complete something I get 1000/1000 and/or perfect trophies, but usually half the time I get bored half way...so I never finish my goal of getting perfect.

Just like how there were in game trophies for games like resistance 1 and Ratchet and Clank i like the sense of completion and accomplishment.

It would be nice if sony used trophies maybe in the future "premium" subscription. Like if you are a premium member you can use trophy points or trophies like cash to buy things on PSN.

its my only reason to replay a game after beating it.

I put my trophy accomplishments on application forms.... [sarcasm]

I don't "get" them for anything. I couldn't care less about them, and I'm not the one to brag about my game accomplishments. I'd rather just play, have fun... The only time I ever even go out of my way to unlock them is when there's extra content involved... But, so far, the only game to do that I've played is Soul Calibur IV...

There are other things to do that's better than collect trophies, and what-not. In Tekken 6, I have about 80% Trophies, but, I'm missing simple ones, like win a ranked match. I was just getting my monies worth for Tekken, and having fun with it, I wasn't trying to unlock anything.

I've never came across a trophy whore online either, thank goodness. Just play the game, and have fun. Trophies have no baring on replay value to me, because the trophies themselves have no value to me to begin with.

The only reason I did it on Jumping Flash! 2 (PSX/1996) was because I wanted to unlock the secret HYPER mode.

The only games I've played twice this gen are the ones with trophy support. I guess that sums up my reasons.
