Forums - Nintendo - Should Square port FFXIII to Wii?

As long as they are in the mindset of tech over practicality, like thinking physical media is somehow on the way out, then they won't give the Wii the support it deserves. Same with all the developers.

The Wii is vastly underpowered compared to the PS3/360/PC. That was Nintendo's decision and it has been "practical" for their bottom line. But why must the rest of the industry stand still because Nintendo decided to launch a console with specs that are closer in performance to systems launced over a decade ago? If we really wanted to be "practical" we could all still be playing Atari.

Probably because the market has shown that console specs are not as important as the industry has thought. If all we cared about was specs we would all be playing on the PC.

As for the Wii port, they're probably better off leaving this one alone. If they did port, though, I'd guess the Wii version would probably manage 1-2 million.

And defining standing still solely by tech is just as delusional as the gaming industry thinks. They aren't moving forward. They're chaging blindly ahead, not caring about the costs, and losing money for that.

If Nintendo was standing still, the Wii would play just like the GC, and would have been packaged with a core game, and we wouldn't see Wii Sports at all.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

No matter what screenshots or whatever people put up, FFXIII can't be ported to Wii. Its just not possible, from a technical standpoint.

Frankly, the 'HD' consoles got FFXIII and Wii got DQX.  I consider it more than a fair trade.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

We are more likely to see a FFX/FFX-2/FFXII port to the ps3 (ala GOW) or

a FF7-9 port to ps3 (also ala GOW) than FFXIII porting to the Wii.

XIII and XIV are going to be the only ones this gen (count on it), so XV could easily end up on Wii's successor. Hell, maybe even a port of XIV if it runs as long as XI did.

no they shouldnt not ever, itll saturate the sales of the others, and why waste the time to develop a wii vers, itd have the same results as dead space extraction

"and why waste the time to develop a wii vers, itd have the same results as dead space extraction"

Did you even pay attention to what Extraction did to drive away interest?

You read my post wrong. I meant they should make a new ground up FF XIII series game for the Wii that's like Versus or Agito, not Versus or Agito themselves.

What's the point of making the game if the intended effects and presentation is downgraded in the end result.  Just like how they left nintendo and went with sony because of the audio capabilities of the ps1; Square is not interested in seeing their vision "compromised".  They know whatever console they put the main series Final Fantasy on will sell well; thats why the wii's userbase is not going to persuade them otherwise.  If you want the game so bad grab a 360 or PS3, otherwise most will be posting in forums while the rest of us are ridding chocobos into the plains of Final Fantasy 13.

doesn't matter to me, I haven't bought an FF in a decade granted it's been about a decade since the last one came out. Wait I have the PS3... um... still not planning on getting it though, I'll let the other 3 million PS3 owners get it.

Final Fantasy XII came out only 3 years ago. October 31st, 2006 was NA release. JP release was March 16, 2006 and PAL release was February 23rd, 2007.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Honestly; if we wanted all wanted hardware performance, we should be using gaming PC's instead of hardware that's wouldn't have been relevant for PC's 8 years ago.
