i didnt say that? i did say they had the GBA to fall off on profit.
it wasn't because of the gamecube.
If Nintendo stopped making consoles/games, Darth wouldnt be able to use so many exclamation points in his threads.
If Nintendo left the console making business then it would be a VERY sad day in Koyotecat land.=( On topic though I think if they stopped making consoles they would stop making games too.
Imagining Nintendo's full development and marketing might going to just the DS2 is pretty mindblowing. It'd utterly dominate the industry.
If Nintendo decided to team up with Sega to make a console, I would probably die from the shock caused by all the awesomeness.
I find it weird that noone has seen the logical choice for Nintendo yet. Nintendo design their hardware to suit their software, and there is only one platform that is not restrained by hardware and standardized controllers and licensing fees from first parties and such.
I'll let you figure out which platform that is :D.
I LOVE ICELAND!

They were talking about profit, and you used the number of devices sold as evidence for why Sony/Nintendo made profit. Just because you sell a lot of consoles does not mean you made a lot of money. If you sell them at a loss, that hurts profit. Selling a lot of consoles that just break even is worse than selling much less for a good profit. That's why you saw stuff like this back in 2005:

Well actually there is no breakdown of profit between GC and GBA so he was incorrect to say that the GC made almost as much profit as the PS2. However if we combine total profits for Nintendo (i.e. GBA + GC) it's not even close. There has only been one year since the introduction of the Playstation brand where Sony's gaming division has made more profit than Nintendo and even then it was only by a small margin.
There is a wonderful table floating around on the VGchartz forums that shows all the figures taken from the respective companies financial reports since the mid 90's but i can't seem to find it at the moment. Maybe someone else has it bookmarked.

nintendo will never stop making consoles. So you can't answer a question, that's never going to happen!!!!!!!!!
