Forums - Nintendo - What if Nintendo made a blue ocean FPS?

Not gonna happen. The people who are buying wii sports by and large are not going to be interested in an FPS game.

They wouldn't if it was a FPS like the ones the HD consoles are getting. But we're talking about a blue ocean FPS. i.e., One that would appeal to them. People buy a game that appeals to them.

And can you imagine the s***storm if Nintendo made a game where killing stuff was more accessible and easier to do ???
Seriously, noone wants to go there...

Who gets killed in paintball?

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

personally i think if they were to visit fps as a genre, they should revisit "geist"

What a truly innovative and original idea that was.
kudos to nintendo and n-sync (or whoever the developer was :) )

Redone, with more imagination, depth and polish/finish, this would really be a title to be reckoned with. now that game had potential!!!!!

this is what you might call a "blue ocean fps"

and a damn fine idea for a wii game i think

Not necessarily: in fact those two qualities are more related to disruption than Blue Ocean. Remember, Blue Ocean only means that you're creating new markets where none existed before (and where there's no competition yet!). Think of two classic Blue Ocean examples: Cirque du Soleil (sic) and the Model T. Neither of these is really any more "accessible" than what came before them, but by changing what the "value" was they were able to create new markets.

I'm not sure it would be "blue ocean," but I've long felt that Mario Paint Ball could kill.

My first FPS (aside from the building areas in the SNES Jurassic Park) was Doom. It was the SNES port, but it was still simple, didn't need a tutorial, just an area to get used to the buttons, and that was all that was needed. If it had a save feature, I would have loved that game even more.

And FPS to be either blue ocean or disruptive needs just a pick up and have fun quality, as are most of the games that fit those.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Depends on what is killed. A bunch of space bugs wouldn't get the same reaction as human beings.

They was done a few years ago by Rare except it was a TPS.  It was called Jet Force Gemini and it was awesome.

You know a FPS game where you're using a bow with WSR controls to hunt (Turok - dinosaurs!!) or go PvP would in intense and fun.  It would add a whole other element to FPS having to factor in movement, distance, wind in the middle of a battle.     People would miss a lot more than hit but that would also be great as you could them run at people between shots and use the wiimote like a sword/axe/mace - assuming you don't get an arrow in your head first.

this is a wii title so 90% the mii you're going to play is going to wear a helmet... also it would be great to introduce online and friend codes think(I think animal crossing did that but its better to have two games than 1...)
