Forums - Gaming - Treyarch should leave Activision (Opinion)

I don't get the Treyarch CoD hate. They had less than a year to make CoD3, and for 6 platforms.

And how much time do you think they had for WaW [on PC, PS3, 360, Wii and PC] while Activision slapped:

Spider-Man 3 (2007) (Only developed the Xbox 360, PC & PS3 version of the game)
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (2008) Wii, PS3, PS2, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, PC
Quantum of Solace (2008) PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PC

On them as well...

I think other way around, Treyarch should stay with Activision doing they're bi-yearly Cod games and

Infinity Ward should leave Activision and make a new IP. With the way Treyarch is tarnishing the Cod name with their shitty games, IW would be better off doing a series that they own and only they develop.

They call CoD 6 Modern Warfare 2, no CoD involved, but people are still playing CoD, not Modern Warfare 2

I think the name is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Most people just call it MW2 or CoD6, the latter being completely wrong and annoying.

I don't get the Treyarch praise. They make good to average games, nothing groundbreaking, mostly ports. Without Activision, they would be lost amongst other publishers and their studio would probably get closed.

Well the hardened edition is called Modern Warfare 2, the normal edition is CoD Modern Warfare 2

That depends how many people work at Treyarch. Do we have numbers on the number of employees there? I've heard numbers ranging from 200-500. I could essentially make a very similar argument for EA Tiburon since every year they make a Madden, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and NASCAR game along with working on the new MMA game. Each game is usually highly polished and considered good to great by fans of the sports they develop for. However, unless we know how many people work at Tiburon it's hard to say whether they just employ a lot of people, or make excellent work of their time and resources.

I just hope they are not forced to cripple their next game the way mw2 got severely crippled. As i have said before i prefer W@W to Mw's. Why couldnt iw make something to compete with nazi zombies? :P

They did. It's called Spec-Ops, and it doesn't require you to beat the game to access it either.

They should leave Activision together with Blizzard. Blizzard will provide the killer apps and games with legs, and Treyarch will provide the niche games and blockbuster model games(Y)

I LOVE ICELAND!

I meant they shouldve done something like nazi zombies. Spec ops is nothing at all like it. Spec ops is just co-op mission things. You could just consider that the normal co-op mode, now wheres the special mode?

Call of Duty is what it is because Infinity Ward looks ahead, not to the side or behind. When there's a retail product offering a more robust Nazi Zombies mode and is selling millions upon millions less, why bother competing with that when your game is far more popular? I don't think Nazi Zombies is half as popular as the internet makes it seem it is anyways. I've gotten hundreds of invites to play World at War online from people on my friends list. I've gotten a Nazi Zombies invite once, maybe twice.
