This is the first week since slim that PS3 is down vs 360 in 2008. But PS3 is tracking upwards consistently lead primarily by seasonal factors now. As there are no big system selling releases remaining for PS3.
Next week PS3 has an even bigger hill to climb vs 360 in 2008 where 360 managed an impressive 726K. This means a >100% increase over this week. I don't see it myself. Like Darth I was expecting to see a 1 million week for PS3. But Wii has once again captured the attention of the mass market for the holidays and I just don't see that there is a sufficiently large market this holidays for 2 systems to get a 1 million week. On top of 360 currently tracking above PS3 2008 as a stronger 3rd placed cionsole for the holidays.
In reality the overall console market has shrunk this holidays, and with 360 perfoming better than PS3 did last year, PS3 is virtually assured to underperform relative to 360 in the holidays of 2008.
The sad thing is that for 360 with this week's result being down YoY by just over 120K 360 is certain to end the calendar year down overall. It will take something truly special from MS for the 360 to reach the 726K they managed WE 30/11/2008, unfortunately I don't see it happening.
