Forums - Website Topics - Something is very wrong with this site - somebody help?!?

Well we've just lost any user info added since Friday - so all new users, any avatar changes etc will have to be done again I'm afraid.

Anyone familiar with mySQL - what would cause a table to be corrupted and need to be repaired? I've had this problem a couple of times now and it is obviously not acceptable

Yeah, I was thinking you were just fixing some stuff that caused all the errors. Guess not.

Sorry I can't help, don't know anything

unless someone's doing an sql injection attack, I can't really think of anything. MySQL should be able to handle any data you throw at it so long as the queries are ok, and throw an error if not. Make sure you're escaping all strings properly.

Might be cause I rebooted the server, could have been halfway through adding some data. Oops!

Hang on in there everyone, we are goin to get all this sorted.

Sorry tho all those who have signed up / made changes, will have to do it all again I'm afraid...

LoL. My sig changed.

The quickest to help would be with a shell account. E-mail me if that would be possible, otherwise I will assume not.

What's the setup of the database? (Most common types are MyISAM or INNODB?)

In general, mysql should be able to survive an ungraceful reboot without corrupting data. That is assuming your hardware is good and doesn't lie about writes to disk, etc...

heh, well that might have something to do with it. Any database worth its salt will have atomic commits though, so you should be able to roll back to a useable state without too much hassle
