Forums - Sales - Famitsu SALES (11/9 – 11/15) -- FF:TCB Is 7th!!

Dec 26th is one of the biggest dates of the year. FF is more of a teen-esque or adult-esque game than kids game and a lot of teens/adults are going to buy stuff after Christmas unlike kids who'd probably just get whatever for Christmas and that's it. It's FF and an action adventure (these sell in the West...not so much in Japan. Part of the reason why FFCC: TCB didn't sell so well.) so I don't think we'll have to worry that much...

It seems like an incrediby bizarre strategy, though, doesn't it?  Now, no one can ask for it for Christmas.  No one.

And while it's true that Dec 26 is one of the biggest retail days of the year, that's because stores clear out their Christmas inventory.  No one goes out on the 26th with the intention of paying full price for anything.  I expect to spend a lot of money on the 26th like I do every year, but I know I won't be buying anything that isn't heavily discounted.

I guess they're thinking that a lot of people will get Wii's as gifts on Christmas Day and they want to be one of the first new releases available for the new owners.  Have games had successful launches immediately after Christmas in the past (in the west, I mean)?

i see FFCC selling at max 150 k in the USA.. still a bomb

Bet you a $5 WiiWare/Virtual Console game that it won't reach 100k by the end of February!

If they put it on Dec 10 or somethin, or even Dec 20 it woul've done extremely well. Very weird strategy

I'm not certain, but didn't FFCC:MLAAK outsell your guys estimations of 100 and 150k? I think a full blown retail game is going to sell better than that.

Time for the PR/fanboy respone to Crystal Bearers sales.

Was The game a big success?

_ yes

X No

If No, what could have been the reason for low sales?

_ Not part of a big name franchise.

X Not designed for the platforms audience.

X Poor advertising.

_ Niche genre.

X Spin off and/or port.

_ Terrible reviews.

Who will you blame for the games poor sales?

_ Yourselves for not making a better, more appealing game.

X Nintendo.

X The Wii and casual gamers who don't buy games.

What do you think you could you have done to make the game more successful?

_ Make a better game.

_ Make the game more appealing to your target audience.

X HIGH DEFINITION.

_ Better Marketing

_ Go to the handheld market.

@ph4nt This is all assuming that the game is as poor as you say.

Games like Zelda, Metroid, and Just about any action adventure game does extremely well in the usa but will fail in Japan, where action adventure games are not liked. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers will do extremely well in the west as long as Square markets the game.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Poor FFCC damn! This game really caught my interest one the games that I want for my future Wii.
