I've been noticing a huge disparity between the ratings that gamers are giving this game and the "official" reviews, seems like gamers don't think the final product matches the hype

Oh it certainly matches and surpasses the hype, I was playing it for 6 hours on Monday and most the day (and night) yesterday, absolutely amazing game, it really has set the bar for video games and specially FPS just like Unchartered 2 has for platform games,

There are a couple of things though:

I said yesterday the graphics deserved the 10's they are getting in most the reviews, I now think a 9 would have been better as there are a few dodgy textures and a lot of blocky shadows if you look for them, I guess it's a small price to pay for a game with so much detail, just seems to me they "missed" some of the textures.

The multiplayer maps, I really don't know if they are as strong as COD4's, I know its a bit early to tell but apart from Terminal and Estate I do feel a little let down with these maps, maybe I just haven't played them enough? but maps in COD 4 such as Strike, Crossfire, Downpour and even Wet Works were amazing.

I do love the new multiplayer additions though, the new perks (normal --> pro), killstreaks, deathstreaks, titles, attachments, weapons etc are superb, the care packages are really cool too, the sentry guns in domination are sooo good, the riot shields, multiplayer is by far the best I have ever played (bar the map issues above),

Host migration wasn't working that well yesterday though, would have been quicker quitting and looking for a new match lol.

So now that I've played through the single player, I can offically say IGN should just swap the scores on story and graphics. How could this story be hard to follow? it was a straight forward aciton movie and it was awesome, no spoilers but the story was better than COD4 and I loved that one too.

The graphics are just a little better than CoD4 which looked great so no complaints, but there are better looking games.

So...what you did is what most probably did: saw this review, saw it got a 10 in graphics and trumpeted "WE FINALLY HAVE A GAME THE LOOKS BETTER THAN KZ2!". Then you sat down and actually played the game......
