^^it is not making a profit once you take into accont for faulty console payouts, but it is making profit and lots of it from other things such as software sales

We can assume you mean the 360 since the Wii has only seen 1 price drop.

All that can be said is the Arcade unit has only dropped $100 in 4 years. The Elite has dropped about $180 but it was just a Pro with a bigger hard drive so it was a rip off. Its a poor comparison because the 360 still hasn't dropped 50% or removed features to make it cheaper. The price even went up in some countries, I'm still surprised they pulled that move.

I hate that MS is milking us, but they have the success to do it. The PS3 is doing whatever it can to sell more units.

If they stood still and failed miserably because the did nothing, we'd be seeing threads about how they've given/aren't even trying and are the most pathetic of the big 3. It's a lose-lose situation no matter what they do.

When the system was launched, how often did we hear comments like SONY's charging us way too much money? Now that they're giving more reasons for people to buy the system for it's price, we're getting threads like these were the complaint is that "They're not making us pay enough".

Sony loses either way...

I hope Sony keeps up with their business plan as is...offering everything for free and trying to make it back on SW sales...lol! Good luck in having money to push out the next console iteration...maybe they can get some of the fans to work on their next console for free?

You obviously do not understand Sony, they do not have to emulate Microsoft, they got Netflix because Netflix wanted to come to PS3, they made the PS3 hard to develop for to ensure the longievity of the console but also so that better games could be made through more complex processes.

Everything Sony do has a reason such as the early adopter price, they can drop the price of the PSPgo at any time and create a sales boom while they wait for the cost of the hardware to go down, this maintains interest in the product and allows for a library of games to develop.

PS3 actually hasn't broken even yet, hence why the gaming division lost money. Next year it just might.

In Europe the PS3 is succesful and in Japan. So the Concept of Sony is better then Xbox360 Concept for those two areas.

Thats the reason why the PS3 picks up steam. The PS3 will be a success I am sure about that.

And most of the reasons you listed are the reasons why PS3 will be ahead of Xbox360. they made long term investments like Bluray and Cell a lot of this technology is able to be used in PS4 like a 32 Core Cell. They made investments in Technology this Generation which will have long term effects even in the next gen. The PS4 will be much cheaper then the PS3.

I am so looking forward to the future because I think time will show us that Sony made a lot of things right not everything but still more succesful then the Xbox360.

The weakest Sony console will be stronger then the strongest MS Console.


The Cell was invested in by Toshiba and IBM also not just Sony and I believe Sony have actually sold all their rights in the technology on now so I don't think you'll see a Cell processor in the PS4 should one get made. 

Had Sony charged "rip off" fees for online this generation then they might have been in profit for the last 2 years.  They're a business and should be run to make money but in the case of the PS3 Sony have acted irresponsibly, safe in the knowledge the Japanese government will bail them out.  Had Microsoft not had the RROD issue then this generation would be over for Sony already, they got lucky that Microsoft produced the most unreliable console ever.

I believe I did just say all 3 developed it.  I was wrong about them selling rights but they did indeed sell their fabrication plants off.  The backlash for doing this is they have less control on manufacturing costs so I don't think long term plan involves them implementing a revised Cell in the PS4.

The 360 was rushed but it was tested, just the faults found in testing they thought could be fixed very quickly (they were wrong).  The PS3 was rushed too might I add but the haste they made developing the mainboard, CPU and GPU combination was wasted as they had to wait for Bluray diode production to ramp up.  This did at least give them 2 years (1 year prior launch then 2006) to redesign a more cost effective mainboard which Microsoft should also have done.
