Forums - Nintendo - Zelda to use WiiMotionPlus!

This was confirmed at E3. Miyamoto just restated it recently. and you know what? He will restate it again and another person will create a topic about it months from now.

But anyway, I thought I read that pointing is still in, but somehow Motion Plus makes it easier. I might have misread or misinterpreted it. I dunno. I can't wait until it comes out which is looking to be 2011. Reggie said that Zelda was not committed to 2010. I don't expect it until probably November 2011. Until then, we need more Galaxy 2 news! lol

Alright so on the front page came the announcement that the next Zelda will use WiiMotionPlus. I'm pretty phsyched at the idea but I still don't have WiiMotionPlus. Now it said were not going to be pointing at the screen anymore, instead using WiiMotionPlus? How do you think were going to play with MotionPlus if were not pointing at the screen?

Play Resort and your question should be answered.

Or could Sony have a sword play title ready to go up against Zelda?

Color me Skeptical. Sony makes good games and all, but better than Zelda?

That's what I thought as well.

Sony has no direct answer to Zelda so they shouldn't bother.

Pointing is out.  The reason being that, as seen in Wii Sports Resort's archery, MotionPlus is capable of aiming much more accurately than the pointer without even using the IR.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Found the info I was looking for.

http://www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=103058

A few days back, we had a second-hand translation of Miyamoto's comments on Zelda Wii, but now we have the official translation put together by Nintendo.

And on a more tangible note, we are utilizing Wii MotionPlus. What has been disclosed so far is that we are finding the most efficient way to utilize Wii MotionPlus to realize the realistic and actual feeling of fighting with the sword. As for targeting, we are utilizing the pointing system of Wii Remote on the previous title. This time we are planning a more convenient and comfortable pointing system. - Shigeru Miyamoto

So it sounds like the same pointing system is being used, but it's being tweaked this time around to make it a bit easier to use. I'm not sure how you get easier than point-and-shoot, but I'm game to find out!

This was from last week.

You just proved my point.

"As for targeting, we are utilizing the pointing system of Wii Remote on the previous title."

"This time we are planning a more convenient and comfortable pointing system."  Meaning using the MotionPlus, not the IR.  I suppose you could still call it 'pointing', but not in the way people are assuming.

If you say so. I read it entirely differently though.

It's been 3 weeks for my WSR order. They sure are taking their time, LOL.

I wanna play archery.

@ thekitchensink, couldn't that mean the previous Zelda tittle on Wii?

I have played WiiSportsResort and can see how swordplay and archery are going to work. But you'll still need the nun-chuck and some pointing or else the gameplay will change to drastically!

I don't think Sony can make a title better then Zelda, that would be a ridiculous notion. However they most certainly could create a medevil style adventure with very similiar elements to Zelda. They could create a competitive title if they put all their effort into it. I think it will be very interesting to see how they counter LOZ, notice in their tech demo for the wand they do do sword play. Could Sony have a new IP or existing IP ready to counter Zelda next Christmas?

Ohz I never read that pointing was still in, does anyone have a source? I only read that Miyamoto said that Zelda would use WiiMotionPlus. Also I don't recall Miyamoto confirming WiiMotionPlus back at E3 either. Why else would their be a new news story about it? If anyone has sources I'm really interested in reading them!
