I find it hard to believe GT5 cost only $60 mill. Im thinking $100 mill. These representatives often intentionally lowball the costs when they talk to media.

10 million copies will bring in at least $300 million in revenue.

Um, why?

Because it's been in development for 5 years with a dev team of 2-300 people.

So? Also, GT5 production started in 2004? Wasn't aware

Lastly, read the edited please...

250 team members each is associated with a $100,000 cost = $25 mill per year.

5 years x $25mill =$125 mill

It takes too long to xplain how and why devs give lowballed dev budgets to media and the evidence of the numbers being too small in general, but i've written about it before.

Where are you getting the 5 year figure. Also, why would they lie about their expenses...?

For your point to stick, you need a source...

There's over 5 years between GT4 and GT5.

But okay, lets take off one year for PSP GT or whatever. It's still 4 years on a huge team.

I heard polyphony was 300 members, but i could be wrong. Anyway lets say 250 as I did.

4 x 250 x $100,000 = $100 mill

typical game development starts with a small team and only increases in size a lot the last year when testing gets started....

I think for a game like MGS4 they added over 100 people the last year...

So they for sure didn't have 250 people working on it the full 5 years..( not even GTA4 had 250 peoples working for 5 years even if they may have had more ppls than 250 the last 6 months).

On top of that the cost of a QA guy is about half or less than the cost of a developer ( doing game QA barely pays the bills except fpr those few QA specialist each company retains full time).

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

PD is a 120 man developmental team

arghh CGI & slimebeast

STOP with the quotes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Given the fact that most manufacturers are eager to get their car into GT5 and probably finance some of the costs with adding new cars models 60 millions seem actually what you would expect...

Oh yeah.

People willing to PAY to have there car feature in Gran Turismo goes to show how big the franchise really is.

Anyway Darth - I wouldnt be surprised if FF13 did cost near 100 million. It's got the same things going for it that GTA4 did. Multiplat. Voice Acting. FF13 has better graphics. (But i'm sure that cost is written off as the crystal engine development and not used in the budget)
