As A huge Ninty fan I have to give this over to the ps1. Not because Sony ever came close to matching the great Ninty games, but because the third parties did a great job on "that" system. I love my N64 but for good third party support I would go with ps1 for that reason only.

Does that mean you think both PS3 and 360 are better than the Wii?

lol guys you can't argue on which is best as everybody has there opinion. no matter how good or bad a game is someone will disagree.

for me a love my N64 way more than my PS1

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Meh. Saturn > both.

32bit really was the last gen you needed *every* console though imo.

Totally agree... the PSone is probably the best system that was ever released CTR is by far my fabvorite racer ever, and one of my top 5 games of all time

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Do I have to make a wiki page to prove that N64>PS1?

Its undeniable that the N64 was the only system of the 5th generation......the rest died when the 6th gen started.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

Lets compare the two. PS1 features to the left. N64 features to the right.

Nopers. The Wii has enough 1st and 3rd party games to keep me busey The other two systems have some great 3rd party support but very few of them I actually want to play. Of course I do get to play some of them at my friends house if I want. I did play my PS2 probably more than my Gamecube too though. I suppose I am not as "hardcore" as I use to be. I probably play my Wii and D.S. togather about as much as I played my SNES alone. It does not make them any less fun just less time spent on games  now a days. To much spent on this site too!

Graphics: PS1>N64
Loading Time: PS1Controllers: Original PS1Control Stick. N64 Wins because PS1 had to buy a Multitap
Memory: PS1(had to buy a memory card)Games: Lets do this by genres

JRPG- PS1
WRPG- PS1
Shooters- PS1(even though N64 had the best shooter)
Platforming Games- N64(DK64, SM64, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie)
Fighting- N64(Super Smash Bros.)
Racing- PS1(not even close)
Sports- equal
Action- PS1(both had some good fun action games, but PS1 had more)

Based on these things:
PS1:7
N64:6

I had both consoles and I loved them both, but PS1 gets the slight edge.

The bolded is absolutely wrong....the N64 easily had more power than the ps1....no contest. And also the N64 didnt need a memory card because games were saved in their own cartridges.

So going by your list its N64:8 and PS1:5

N64 had better graphics.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Depends.  N64 probably wins out, but I'd definitely say PS1 did some things better.

What I'd disagree with are his genre wins.  PS1 killed N64 in fighters, and vice versa for fps.  Both sucked for WRPGs, but both rocked for racers.
