So, tell me, and don't get mad: When did you play Carnival Games? |
When my little sister got it early last year.

Oh, my mistake...
Well... if it's worth anything:
On 360 i've played:
Gears of War [4 hours]
Halo 3 [6 hours]
Dead or Alive (45 mins i think...)
Devil May Cry 4 [8 hours, even finished the game on Son of Sparda mode]
and a few other things but not enough play time to mention them...
On Wii i've played:
Wii Sports [2 hours]
DBZ:T3 [3 hours]
that's about it...
4 ≈ One

The PS2 also had like two or three times as many games as the Xbox and GC combined. That easily offsets the higher number of good games. It just goes to show how silly Carl's original point was. Most people don't mind if there are 1,000 bad games, if they have enough good games to choose from. So when comparing libraries of consoles it makes more sense to focus only on the good games instead of the libraries as a whole. Why bother with the irrelevant trash you won't play anyway? |
I think it also has to do with those shovelware titles finding great success on the Wii whereas most of the trash was not very successful.
All right, now this one is for Carl and Outlawauron both:
What would make these high-selling games (like Carnival Games) "trash"?

So? What should it matter to you whatever anyone plays (unless you want them to play something with you online of course)? |
What does it matter? I only gave him an example of "irrelevent trash" that people play.
If a system has 1000 bad games to 100 good ones, it lowers the average quality of that systems library. That is all im saying. It would be a good purchase if you liked the 100 games. Where did i say it wouldn't be a good purchase?

Does PC count? If so when is the cut off?
If not:
Wii, the only true console that sticks to a console's advantages and doesn't half-ass what shouldn't be on a console to begin with. Also Wii Sports is an aphrodisiac, I swear.

I realise I'm being a bit of a hypocrite here, but could you be a little more specific? He did ask for justification. So anyway, I choose PS3, because it has a wide variety of genres, both existing series (which, owning PS1/PS2, I am a fan of) and new IP, and great games spaced throughout the year. My favourites include the Uncharted games, LBP, MGS4 and Killzone 2, as well as some multiplats like BioShock and CoD4. I think that's what we're supposed to do, but I'm not sure. |
My favorite console line up is on the Xbox 360 right now. It started in 2006 with Gears of War and that was the first true Next Gen experience (as far as HD consoles go). Then it continued in 2007 with the release of Halo 3 and Modern Warefare, and Mass Effect. 2008 was also a good year with Gears of War 2 and other great multiplatform titles and 2009 has been a decent year with Halo Wars and Halo ODST as well as Forza 3 and tons of other multi plat titles. 2010 looks to be a much bigger year with Splinter Cell, Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, and Halo Reach.
In the end the 360 provides the most games that cater to my tastes. Im a big FPS and Racing fan and they have all my bases covered.
Long Live SHIO!

Nah unfortunately I had to leave out the PC because it's never really "current-gen" and it would muck up this discussion just trying to hammer out the parameters of consideration on that front.
