Troy Baker Interview Part 2
Posted on October 20, 2009 by Dave Ward

RPGSite: In Japan they are porting Tales of Vesperia to the Playstation 3 and they are expanding practically every aspect of the game, even going so far as to add a whole new main character in the form of Patty Fleur to the party. While there has been no Western release announced as yet, I was wondering if you had heard anything or have been called back to do additional lines?
Troy: No, we came back and did a couple of things several months ago but I don’t know if that was ported over for anything else. But they’re adding characters, is that what you said?

RPGSite: Yeah, a pirate named Patty Fleur. I have no idea what her role is but she may have been on the cards from the very beginning, because when you visit one of the port towns in the Xbox 360 version you find a pirates hat on which can be read ‘It has a girl’s name: Pa…’ which I can only assume is a reference to this new character.
Troy: How crazy.

Sup kamal?

It's kinda funny when I talked to he mentioned this very reference to me (which I never knew at the time) after I discussed the character Patty. Anyway what I have is word of mouth thats it.

It's extremely tempting to believe you. Come on, Namco.

Hi guys. I'm the general editor of that site. A friend of mine visits these forums and emailed me this thread to show me our article was mentioned and you guys weren't sure of the situation. A bit of clarification.

I didn't conduct the interview but I edited it. Just to confirm, we're still chatting with Troy. We chatted to him there around a fortnight before his appearance at the London expo. However, our interviews Editor (Dave, who posted that interview) is currently chatting to and arranging another meeting with Troy about his work on another game that we can't talk about right now as the voice cast hasn't been announced (it's not a Tales game though) and I can say that Troy has mentioned nothing about a Vesperia PS3 localization. The same can be said for the other members of Vesperia cast we interviewed - and we quizzed them all on it:

Liam O'Brien (Cumore): http://xbox360.rpgsite.net/articles/157/151/liam-obrien-interview.html

Danielle Judovits (Estelle): http://xbox360.rpgsite.net/articles/157/155/danielle-judovits-interview.html

Troy Part 2: http://xbox360.rpgsite.net/articles/157/166/troy-baker-interview-part-2.html

It's worth noting that with that many interviews and that much time spent with the Vesperia cast (in celebration of the European release on 360) you'd think one of them would've mentioned being called back for the localization if it was happening. All these interviews are fairly recent, too, so... it's not been done yet, at least. Fingers crossed it happens. Sorry Kamal, but it may well be a case of a misunderstanding between you and Troy.

Stop lying. You know for a fact that he did not mention that article at all. Nowhere did you say in your posts about the conversation that he mentioned this. He wouldn't have. How convenient that you suddenly mention this NOW since you are being called out.

You just keep making yourself look worse and worse.

 Boom! Lock thread.

EDIT:  APZonerunner, could you do us a favor? To put this WHOLE issue to rest, can you have the interviewer ask Troy directly about the port? That way we can all finally just shut up about it and deal with whatever he says.

Dave's got Troy's phone number, so consider it done.

Oh exciting! I can't wait to hear how this is going to end...

Maybe I left that bit out cause I though it was of no relevence at the time, when I just remembered by reading the article.

He said to me it's coming soon so am just going to heed his words and wait.
