I am not entirely sure I have used the correct type of standard deviation, but I managed this:

The bar for Wii doesn't quite work, as the lowest score is more than the low of standard deviation.... I think I should just be using first 1/4, 2nd 1/4 etc instead of standard deviation. Still it shows where the majority of us fit, with anyone scoring above or below the blue boxes being outliers. (this is for the first 4 weeks scores added together by the way)

Standard deviation is the average distance to the average.

^yes I know what it is, It just doesn't portray as useful a picture as simply cutting us into 4 groups (1st quarter to 4th quarter) either that or I am using box&whisker plots for the wrong purpose.

With the Wii, because in general everyone has done quite well, but with 2 people being huge outliers it means that the average distance from the mean is 36.24....etc, while the mean is 43.33...

The top and bottom of those boxes in the graph above I put as the standard distance from the mean (so the bottom of the Wii box is 43.3... minus 36.24... which is 7.09...) thing is the lowest score for Wii is 12, which is still within the standard deviation, but the graph hasn't accepted that.

I find this more useful to see the spread of scores:



we can see most people have done well with Wii, but there are just those 2 outliers.

Looking at the Black Friday sales, and estimting increases in Europe, and generally assuming Japan will stay flatish... I think we should get roughly these figures for week 5:

Wii: 1200-1250k
(good for non-gravity, TWRoO and Jadakiss)

PS3: 650-700k
(good for tarheel, BHR-3 and Carl)

360: 480-530k
(good for theprof, ph4nt, and haxxiy)

DS: 1400-1450k
(good for Darth, TWRoO, Pineapple and a few others who predicted 1400)

PSP: 320-370k
(good for Carl, darkjonnyx, dexorosorous, koffieboon, ninjablade, non-gravity)

I could actually be pretty close on DS if it drops in Japan, i have it at 1,350k for the week. Finally a good week on DS for me?

Ok, this is what the scores will look like if the numbers fall exactly in the middle of each of the predictions I put in my above post.

Not a great week for me   I expected the PS3 to get a smaller BF boost than it has done, still, I am doing well on Nintendo consoles at least.

For overall rankings I think that pushes me down to 3rd, with BHR-3 and tarheel just overtaking me by a few points (tarheel back in the lead)

Top 5 will make me a happy guy

At least I've virtually been on top :). Now if only ps3 can do a little better.
