How quickly people seem to be forgetting these numbers;

PS3- 1,365,127

Wii- 693,788

WW for September.

LoL. How quickly people forget the numbers of total sales on the front page.

How about the number of total sales that is not on the front page, PS2?

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

That's it? 5 weeks recorded sales with a price cut and new system relaunch only got them over the Wii by 30k?

Looks like the tsunami of sales everyone hyped here turned out to be someone jumping in the kiddy pool.

1. The wii also had a price cut

2. This is america, where the PS3 is weakest. (They also are pretty weak in Japan, but at least they're in 2nd place)

3. Troll.

1- 8 days price cuts vs 5 weeks.

2- Do you see the problem here?  One system had a price cut and relaunch of there system for an entire month was barely able to get over one that had a price cut for EIGHT DAYS. How is this suddenly improving the PS3's position in the US when its obvious now its not going to change?

3- Troll trolling troll.  See I can scapegoat too.

Why are you surprised by the PS3 outselling wii by only 30k?

Even going by VGC numbers for the month they were 60k low on both PS3 and Wii, thus VGC and all of us who post like grown ups have known the estimate was PS3 outselling wii by 30k, its not like we have been expecting PS3 to outsell wii by 100k and now we learn this.

Looks like either you dont follow sales figures, you cant navigate this site or youre just trying to start trouble.

dinomax the wii is the king this generation, a PRICE CUT from a 3rd place console that sells like utter crap in the U.S isn't supposed to change anything, yet it did do something, that alone should be enough.

Sure it is, I praised Sony for dropping the price.  Made me a customer.

But what did it do?  Well, nothing really.  Lets be honest the slims launch was just maybe just a little bit overhyped the results would be?

Idk how it was overhyped when people were predicting the ps3 to be back to 3rd place in a couple of weeks.. in terms of weekly sales

Without going through 30 pages and checking, these are the official figures for Sept. Ps3,Wii and DS were out a fair bit:

U.S. Hardware Sales, September 2009:

1. Nintendo DS 524.2K
2. PlayStation 3 491.8K
3. Wii 462.8K
4. Xbox 360 352.6K
5. PSP 190.4K
6. PlayStation 2 146.0K

Apologies if this has been mentioned a million times before.

Seriously where did you come from? The NPD numbers show PS3 +30k, VGC numbers all month have shown PS3 +30k......what teh fuck are you talking about liek theres some revalation happening here, the price cut has been as effective tonight as it has been all month.

Haha, Ok. Well how about I attempt to pour some water on the situation, before it does just that?

I don't think anyone is saying the numbers for PS3 are weak. I think the surprise comes from how close the two consoles are all things considered. And also how it seems finally they are "competing against each other" now ;)

But my whole thing is perspective is always needed and reading some of these comments..it is a little baffling. Kenology writes October is going to be interesting and a user sites him for damage control? C'mon.

Things were going down hill and t'was only a matter of time. I added a cent and a half..and alil kerosine.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
