Yes, Ps3 did beat PS1 to 25 million, however you are missing the full story here.

Why this huge discrepency? different release dates. I doubt Ps3 ever selles 19 million in a single year.
Good going for the PS3. I think sales shouldn't matter when it comes to the global quality of a product, be it a console or a game, but since most people care for it, I guess this is a milestone for them ;).
By the way, I remember back in the threads when the 360 made 30 million on how people were touting the exact same things from that camp as people from the ps3 camp are touting now. Why is it then that when the 360 people do it is ok but when the ps3 people do it they get attacked?
I think people should be fair and give proper respect where it's due instead of giving pointless and derrogatory coments.

Well, okay.
Ps3 will only sell "faster" than the ps1 for a little while longer then (due to stronger competition this gen).
However, with 2010 bringing GOW III, FFXIII, PsSphere, GT5, The Last Guardian, FFXIV, etc. the ps3 will probably hold up better than most expect. Perhaps it can even outsell its two competitors for next year.

I know the full story. Next year PS3 will likely go to 4th, but right now... 3rd place on that list belongs to PS3
Hey who knows right, PS3 sales have been going up for the past 2 weeks, every Sony console even the PS2 had slow starts, but then they really kicked into high gear, just dont think that the PS3 will stay in 3rd place forever.
^^the dreamcast had a 10million unit lead over the PS2 when it came out, look at what happend.
Wow the last place console this gen is still going to be one of the top selling ever. My prediction of the end of generation:
1. PS2 - 140-150 million
2. Wii - 100-110 million
3. PS - 102 million
4. PS3 - 80-90 million
5. 360 - 65-75 million
6. NES - 62 million
7. SNES - 49 million
etc.
what do yall think of that precition (obviously SNES, NES and PS1 are staying the same)
