I predict Wii under 30k next week.

Except you're missing the point. If Sony were to release a slim PS3 that was the same price, and there were a couple of mildly big games released at the same time, the PS3 wouldn't have received nearly as big of a boost as it had. You know this to be true just as much as I do, and denying it only makes your claims and your argument not hold any water. You keep saying that the price cut didn't matter, while I keep claiming that it's a combination of things (and a price cut definitely made an impact). Facts are on my side. The PS3 sold nearly twice as much hardware in Japan in September of 2009 than it did in June of 2008. For comparison however, June 2008 saw the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, which combined sold more than all software combined in September of 2009. However, even those 2 games could barely hold PS3 hardware high for more than a week or two. Additionally, I could pull up months like this one where there was nothing big released for the PS2 but a single soccer game, and it still sold a little over 30k weekly. Continuing to believe that price doesn't matter is just some dreadful delusion, and it's making arguing with you akin to arguing with a brick wall.

He's obviously not talking about this year. Sheesh!
| TheSource said: Guys this means Wii went from selling ~1.8k per week (based on last week) over four days to selling 8k over the last few days. Once the Wii and PSP price cuts are in effect for a full week they'll join DS over the PS3, and we'll be back to where we've been for most of the generation. |
TheSource, you need to start hang out with Japanese who doesn't hate Sony....
Your prediciton for Japan gaming market has become more like your personal wishes

I'm sure the tables will turn when Wii gets DQ 10 unless DQ10 gets ported over to PS3 as well.
And why wouldn't they port DQ10 to PS3? Doesn't S-E want as many gamers to enjoy their game as possible?
That's that they said when they ported FF13 for 360. The real question is did they mean that or was it just PR bullshit.

And then PS3 will get Lost Planet 2 and Star Ocean 4, later in March Gran Turismo 5. This is total ownage, if PS3 will be able to sell around 40k and not fall below 30k.
Um, in the preview I had Wii below PS3 and PSP which is what happened, despite the price drops. I had expected the PSP to outsell PS3 by a small amount and thats what ASCI/Dengeki has reported.
Sony introduced a new PS3 model and a price cut at once. For PSP and Wii there was only a price cut for half a week going against the new PS3 and the new price put for PS3 and already both PSP/Wii are close to outselling Wii again.
Given that PS3 has dropped every week since the price cut and Wii and PSP should be up again its completely reasonably to expect PS3 to drop behind Wii and PSP again. Whether it happens next week or in two or three weeks is debatable, but PS3 has been declining each week and that decline is going to continue for a while

You can't say that, because, we can't look into an alterntate universe where there was no price cut and see the sales, however we can look at the Wii which had a price cut, but no new hardware and no system selling software, and extrapolate that the software and the new hardware was the real cause of the PS3 sales boost in Japan. So no, I'm afraid that it wasn't the price cut that moved PS3 sales.
Your examples are only software, and not even necessarily system selling software, but no new hardware, so you haven't yet supported your argument, this was a total hardware revision along with new software, the price cut wasn't the big factor
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Is the wii cut limited to a couple of days or what? Why would it go up in sales, usually a week after the cut it drops back down.. (speaking on consoles in general)
