Asking existing XBox 360 owners to buy Natal for $100 or more without bundling a "System Selling" game like Wii Fit or Guitar Hero along with it will ensure that it is destined to become an obscure late generation add-on.

Sounds like sonys get a second job comment with the ps3.

At what price point do you believe there will be a hype train forming? Anything over $100 in addition to the cost of the console, is going to form what hype train here?
If this thing launches for over $99.99, it will fail. If Microsoft is smart, Natal will only cost $79.99 w/ a few games (something like Wii Sports).

Then id expect to see the wi fi dongle at $20 and the 120 gb harddrive for $40 if not theres no justification or value to either of the aforementioned products and will result in some serious WTF articles in every major publication, and incredible backlash of existing userbase and future users.
In summery. No it will not cost $80 unless MSFT drastically alters its pricing scheme across the board which is far more unlikely than a sub $100 natal.

I think M$ might be able to sqeeze out $119 for Natal, especially if they can build sufficient hype, but once you start talking in the $149 and higher range, ALOT of people will balk at that price point for a controller, even if it's a "smart" one. Right now, you can get a Arcade for $199+100...maybe $129 mroe for the controller...M$ is going to launch this thing with the new chipset, reducing cost JUST liek sony was able to...so basically, instead of a $99 arcade, you can a $300 Natal box.
Microsofts not stupid enough to release this thing at an outrageous price, if done right Microsoft will have many parents buying this for there kids since they want an hd wii with better games. They know if its priced to high people would just get a 200 dollar wii until price drops dramatically.

You mean that wifi adapter that has A,B, and G and not just shitty b and g? Or the hard drive that has emulation on it so they have to pay Intel and NVidia a set amount per HDD they sell? Not everything is as cut and dry and you'd like to make it sound.
My prediction:
1. Nobody will buy it if its over $150
2. If its say $70-150 then they will sell SOME (like maybe half a million to a million) units but it will fail
3. If its under $70 then it will sell a fair bit (like 2 million at most) but still be considered a fail.
So I think it will fail no matter what. Its too late in the gen to release something like this. It should just be in with the Xbox 720. But it will fail even harder if its expensive.
$70...lol...a regular controller is $50...sorry, but If M$ follows the WiiFit board pricing model, good things will happen...how many did Nintendo sell again?
